Well, on the flip side of the coin, I'm constantly nagged about not eating meat. I don't say you shouldn't eat meat or anything, but I get TONS of people saying "HEY HARRY (that's my name), WHY DON'T YOU EAT MEAT?" and I usually just say for personal reasons. Then they go on with "WHY???? IT TASTES SOOOO GOOD I MEAN I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!!!!" It annoys me. Not saying any of you would do that, but I've had so many people nag me about my diet.

Being vegetarian still doesn't stop you from getting fat or high blood pressure. Thought I'd say that. Well, I'm not "fat", by I've got a beer gut. Probably from all the soda.
Yeah, you still get fat from soda's and shit. Fatty meat can make it worse, but i'm not exactly skinny and don't eat meat. I do find that meat CAN cause hypertension if you eat too much of the red kind. Or are too liberal with the sodium-sauce.

But yeah, I have DEFINITELY been annoyed by meat eaters. Never said anything to tick them off or anything, but once people know you don't eat it, they get defensive and start attacking you or questioning you.

Really, there are just as many asshole carnivores that preach their shit as there are vegetarians who do the same. It's not anything to do with one side. It's about being different and people trying to control or attack someone over being different. It's what little kids do to bully one another. Funny how adults consider themselves so much more mature than kids, and yet as I grew up and became an adult, it became clear that they really aren't any more mature...

I have a friend who's an unabashed vegan. This means all animal products are considered cruel and unusual punishment to the animals. He even has a beef with butter/milk...the animals who produce it are supposed to be feeding their calves/kids with it, and he thinks it's a cruel joke by humanity. Once, on facebook...he said "if you eat beef, what's stopping you from eating a human?"

He believes that the beef industry has been feeding us lies for years - iron, and protein can be found in better sources, and that we could save the planet if we would just become vegans. Personally, I think that farming anything in large enough numbers to feed the planet is killing our planet. Why do you think 3rd world countries need pesticides and fertilizers to get anything to grow to support the population? Anyhow, beef is more calorically dense than anything else - why do you think any meat is prized in 3rd world countries? Try India, where all parts of the cow are sold as food. Even China uses a great portion of the cow! In America, most of the "bad" bits in the cow are turned into hamburger and sausage - which means more food and more jobs for people makiing them.

If we go vegan all at once, do you think the jobs and "meat market" would survive? Or would it just go underground? I think it would turn into a status symbol - meat is a luxury in some places; it is too abundant in our countries.
cute pun

I though people in india wouldnt eat cows because they are holy

its entirely true there really is no reason not to go vegan anymore, its a lot healthier and in richer countries people take vitamins and shit anyway, getting your everyday sources from other things is completely possible and you can live much longer than your current diet.

I personally couldnt kill the food I eat, in fact I dont even like to think of the steak im eating coming from a cow that was loved then slaughtered.

Understand that for every job that you lose in the food battle you gain in other areas, less dependency on animal products the more people will need farmers ect.

Its not a bad idea just not as tasty.

I really don't mean to sound juvenile, but whenever I talk to a anti-veggie, they say that they're hostile towards them because they preach their stuff to them first, with the badgering and the interrogation.

Really, personally, I could care less if you ate used shoes from Goodwill. Just don't tell me what I should and shouldn't be eating. Don't be pissed off at me because it's so hard to live completely vegan, because 90% of products, food or no, has animal products in some shape or form. It's not my problem. Supply and demand, my friend.

Have you ever seen how america manufactures cows and chickens? It's quite obscene.
after they are dead it doesnt matter, if you mean how they are treated when they are alive okay, they have other options that are better for the animals, you can go organic as well as range only

Also, here's my take on animal cruelty in the processing plants, farms, etc...

I would like to have my meat guiltless, but until that happens, I'll take my meat as I can get it, and I'm certainly not going to pay a premium for free-range, organic, etc...

Make organic the same price as the other shit, and i'll happily go the other way.

Mmmm... roast beef, sirloin steak, roast chicken, baked chicken, BBQ chicken --OOH! BBQ cubed steak! THE best steak you will EVER taste!

...Sorry @ the vegans here, but I love my meat... especially cubed steak

Damn, now I'm homesick... College cafeteria food SUCKS, no matter what your tastes! The things I've seen... the things I've tasted...

...the wicked bad food poisoning I've gotten

Well, it depends on who. I personally hate PETA, which is the main source of this crap. Yeah, I believe that eating meat isn't exactly the best thing, but PETA just makes every vegetarian and vegan out there look like some hippy liberal douche who preaches love and throws red paint on people. It's just giving us a bad name. I've never push my beliefs on anyone because they're not really all that important to me. For me, not eating meat is just part of life, it's not something I strongly believe in. I was just raised without eating any of it and thus have no temptation to eat it.

I would personally prefer having some retard go on and on about why eating meat is bad than having some retard saying I should eat meat because it tastes so goddamn good. One is a personal belief. The other is a retarded. Not to mention that a lot of meat substitutes taste pretty damn good. I love the vegetarian Whoppers at Burger King. It's like a heart attack and orgasm in my mouth.

The thing is its much cheaper to fill it up with additives, steroids and keep them locked away, people want higher quality they have to pay for it, I currently enjoy organic becuase its still kind of cheap around 5$ an lb for red meat round here and luckily my local grocery store as well as others in the same chain are making cheaper organic alternatives to cheese milk and meats.

@dudeonline-

True depending on the person. Definitely both parties usually get into the fight. Rarely though is a single side at fault for all the attacking. I for one, have never attacked, judged, or in any way messed with anyone for their eating choice. I don't care at all. I have however, been attacked numerous times for what i eat for no reason and having said nothing. That in itself, is just pure bullying from ignorant and immature "adults". It doesn't even have anything to do with being right or wrong about food, there is no right or wrong. It's purely being an asshole. This goes for both parties. I've never fought back either. Go figure. Best response for "OMG, you're an idiot, why you eat that you moron?" would just be to shrug and say you feel like it. If they don't shut up, leave. Nothing good about that person if they're immature enough to bother you about eating.

You CAN get your nutrients from being vegan, but it's very difficult. Especially if you're poor like me and don't have the money to buy all the fancy foods that have the nutrients. And it is almost impossible to eat food that doesn't come from animals in some shape or form. That's one reason i'm now a vegetarian instead of a full vegan. But I digress from explaining that. It just turned out to be too difficult for me to sustain. I didn't mind being on, i just became vitamin and mineral deficient due to the inability to afford what i needed.

And YES organic should be the same price. But until the other kind really starts to die, it won't happen. I love organic food too. I drank some organic milk, cheese, and eggs. it was like a 100% improvement, genuinely better tasting. But i'm poor...so i'm screwed there. Still absolutely no reason to torture animals. We can't help it unless we're rich and powerful, but the fault isn't ours, it's sick bastards who like to kick and kill animals for fun (as opposed to killing them as a form of food).

I completely agree. trying to dictate what people can and can't eat is just retarded. If you disagree, I hear Hu Jintao is looking for people like you.

1. It IS healthier to be vegan than it is to eat meat, a LOT of illnesses are worsened by eating meat, not to mention a lot of completely preventable problems such as heart attacks caused by clogged arteries.

2. Is is far better on the animals AND the planet to be vegan.

3. It is far to late for the world to turn vegan (the humans anyway). Too many jobs would be lost. That's right, jobs, that is the ONLY down side to the word no longer eating meat. That, however is only a short term problem, as all of those meat farmers would go into crop farming, eventually making healthy food as cheap as meat in the supermarkets of the world.

4. the argument about food retirements is all wrong, herbivorous animals in the wild do perfectly fine, they get cravings for certain foods when their body needs them. The same would happen to us if our diet wasn't pumped full of crap (too much sugar, salt, fat etc.)

5. I really don't have any right to preach on either side of this argument, I eat meat. Not because I need the 'nutrients' but because I like the taste, which is the ONLY reason any of us have. I'm not going to tell everyone they have to turn vegan, I'm not going to tell everyone they have to eat meat.

Don't be a vegan, it is pointless. If it is a digestion problem that is one thing, but if it is because you think you shouldn't kill animals to eat it is just absurd.
Think about the plants. Don't eat vegetation, that is living. And if you go by that, congratulations, your gonna die from lack of nutrition

I say PeTA activists are the worst. They worry about a damn fly being squashed by obama, yet they cant help out with things that are important, such as rape, war, abortion, pedophiles, world hunger etc. PeTA needs to shut up.
Everyone in the world is weird today in some way or another. Vegans make me want to eat fried alive puppies:creep:, or just mail them ground. beef. If I knew someone like that I would eat a rare steak in front of them, making sure blood drips as I pick it up and eat it.

I'm a strict vegetarian (I don't eat or use anything with gelatin etc or anything that requires killing the animal) and I have to agree with you. My personal philosophy on the matter is that eating meat is fine as long as you kill the animal yourself and prepare it so that you realize that what your eating was living. I don't however have the heart to kill an animal myself so the logical conclusion is being a vegetarian and I was also raised as a vegetarian so that has a big influence. Please don't write me off as one of those ridiculous animal lovers who doesn't know anything about the subject because I have no problem with animals killing other animals in the natural food chain but as humans we have the alternative of not killing so why not take it? I also really hate those people who take up vegetarianism because of a health fad or to look good and the people who say "How could you not eat meat? it tastes so nice". I have accidentally eaten meat before like most vegetarians in a normal community (for example some stupid people at greggs who gave me a chicken and mushroom pasty instead of a cheese and onion one) and honestly it doesn't taste that nice. In primary school usually when people found out I was a vegetarian they would ask the old cliche of "what if you were stuck in the desert with no food other than meat" to which I answer now "by the time a human starts to die from hunger they revert back to their primeval instincts and will eat just about anything including other people, so choice doesn't come into it". I don't try to force my opinions on other people but it does annoy me when I see people eating at McDonald's and not even thinking that there beef burger might have been called daisy before it was deep fat fried into oblivion. I have often wondered about becoming a vegan but I don't really have any moral qualm about eating animal produce like milk as our local milk man owns his own independent, fair trade farm and I do a fair bit of exercise and need the protein. All in all eat what you want to eat but don't question my beliefs and remember what you might be eating was walking around (if it's lucky and not battery farmed) a while ago.

your 1st point isnt completely true, you leave out the fact of lean meats like chicken turkey and other lean meats, get your facts straight....

I don't really feel like reading any more after post 20ish, but I saw somebody call meat eaters carnivores, well I'd say the amount of carnivores vs vegans is in huge favor of vegans, we're omnivores, you judgmental prick!

You do know that your not killing an apple tree if you eat an apple and that if animals didn't eat the apples there would be no more apple trees so yes all of those people who eat an entire plant should stop being so hypocritical

See, this is where it gets retarded. You're a perfect example of this immaturity and failure Jothri. How old are you, 4? That's what children do to each other, kid.

@Gore-

That was me, but what's insulting about the word carnivore? I guess it's not entirely true, most people being omnivores, but it's certainly not an insult. You just threw the first insult though, by calling someone a judgmental prick...

I'm not being hypocritical, just saying how I see it...sheesh
Lol, you do know that drinking milk doesn't kill, a cow... now that makes me want to chop off legs off cows and eat them.

Why would you bother cooking that much of the meat? if you want the inside raw, why not have the outside raw also?

I gotta have the good smoked flavor, ya know...

And age comparison leaves me roflmao
