If I went and bought a new 2ds xl, how would I play backups of 3ds games from the sky3ds+?

Yes, I have cfw on my 2ds xl but my wife has the latest firmware and it's unmodded (also 2ds xl). She doesn't want to chance a ban so I got her a sky3ds+ and it works great for her.

you're aware if everything is not correct using one of those you have a higher risk than using cfw of bans. Not to mention sky3ds+'s are overpriced as it is.

visit any 3ds piracy website, download .3ds game files, copy to your micro sd card that you use for the sky3ds. you will also want to get a few cheap game carts from your local game store so you can dump the rom headers for use with online play.

She just uses backups we already own. My daughter inherited our cartridges but she wanted to play them with her. Moreover she's using a header from a game I we don't use. The price was also something I'm financially secure enough to commit to.

If she wanted cfw I would lol. I already told her the pros of cfw and she can clearly see mine has no issues. Im respecting her choice.

Actually you only risk a ban with a SKY3DS+ if you go online in game, without a private header.
On the other end we still don't know (at 100%) what triggers a ban on a CFW...

My question really was, do I need to mod the 2DS (EX: Put homebrew or CFW) for a Sky3DS+ Card to work, or would I be able to just pick one up, put the .3ds files on a card, and play?

EDIT: I also want to know how i'd play online. if I recall correctly, like nero said, you need to get a header from a game to play, but skydocks are new, so what did you do before? Also, does the game have to be new to take it's header with the skydock?

If you don't have the Sky3DS yet, it isn't worth buying one, just get a ntrboot capable flashcart and install CFW. You'll get a lot more functionality for 1/5-1/10 of the cost.

You don't need to install CFW for the Sky3DS, that's the point of it (expensive solution for the computer illiterate).

You don't need any headers to play online with installed games on CFW. With Sky3DS, you want it to be a brand new game so that no one else has used the header.
