Only USB 1.1 is supported by the hardware so you're not going to be able to load your warez copies legal backups from the HDD. It's never going to be fast enough

SVPE's BLOG
From the same guy who's added this support

There will always be another method.

it would be easier to put the custom firmware on iso or maby twilight hack.

devopling the firmware is the harder bit not the way we would install it as there many open bugs in the wii

OR

feed the wii with official updates to fix semi bricks

Nice!
Don't worry about FAT32, I'm sure they add it when everything works.
Backup loading without burning

If they get everything working I buy a 320GB USB HDD for my Wii.

Hmm, has the Wii got a USB1 or USB2 port? If it's USB1 there are no possibilities for backup loading(far too slow).

I don't get it. the usb mass storage support enhances wii memory or is it like a giant SD card ?
I guess that mfe player will be more useful than before.

Now we just need a daemon tools channel !

well how did you verify the Wii USB Ports were 2.0?
Afaik there is nothing out yet, requiring more than 12 MBit/sec...so how did you determine it's High-Speed-Capabilitiy?

Does it work like SD card, so it's only for installing vc games purpose/ for homebrews? Or does it "expand" the internal memory, so you could put "endless" amount of VC games there?

If it's the first one, then i'm not interested yet untill they use it for something cooler. :|

hardware is well documented and you could always look up usb chip
so actually someone checked the whole Hard- and Software implementation is according to High-Speed USB specification?
I don't think so tim.

this is both good and bad news

good as it could be the end for all of the wii's storage problems regerding save games and the VC

bad regerding it could be used in the aid to run backup wii games without a modchip

only time will tell

You are forgetting one main uses of USB: The media center potential it can add to wii with loading songs and movies from usb mass storage devices.

it's so fukkin hilarious that 99% of the people here can't even read. it enables usb mass storage-support for homebrew and can not be used for pirating more VC-games or saves.
