Hacking Usb Loader GX Gamecube storage question

Hey guys, quick question here.
When I create a new save file on a gamecube game in Usb loader gx, is the savefile actually placed on my sd card or the same usb?
Also, do these save files take up a lot of space? I don't wanna have my usb or card fully loaded just to realize I need a few extra gigs for storage, thank you!

Not much space. You can set the memory card size or have one memory card for each game. I use the same card for all games along with 4 backups. It's never gotten corrupted. I keep my entire cube collection on an sd card. Nintendont saves my games to the sd card. Not sure about if games are on usb.
