Gaming US/UK game save transfers on Gamecube - possible?

I'm getting all NTSC versions of my GC games for my US Wii (I live in the UK).

I've heard that you need to format a card for the region of machine you're using it on which means I'd have to wipe my GC memory card for it to work... even if I get a new one, then format it for US use I couldn't transfer my saves as the card I'm transferring from would be Euro and therefore unusable!

Is there a way around this? Or do you need to format it only for in-game use, meaning I can transfer files via the GC menu to a US GC formatted card from Euro one?

PAL and NTSC-U cubes can share the same memory card. You have nothing to worry about.

Its only the NTSC-J machines/mem cards that can cause problems.

Thanks, but I'll be using a Wii and not a Cube anyway... I take it that the same applies? i.e. a US Wii just emulates a US GC?

But another thought just occurred - are saves from different formats even compatible??

well its still the same GC hadware in the wii, so you can share memory cards.

Actually on the Wii, I've been able to save both NTSC-J and NTSC-U saves on the same card.
(I have my Naruto (J) saves with my RE4 and PSO (both US) saves)
Which is awesome, now I don't have to dedicate a card per region like before on the 'cube.

This is on a Japanese Wii btw, but I don't think that matters.

i think a few games work, but certainly the earlier GC games didnt.

But then again it just might work fine on the Wii - i havent tried any japanese games myself.
