Hacking updating wii menu from 3.2U

hi all i have been away from wii hacking for a while and need some help catching up
I am currently on wii menu 3.2U and i have homebrew channel installed
I would like to know if i can update to a newer wii menu safely and be able to keep homebrew channel and run all other homebrew
