Hardware Updating Question

My friend recently uninstalled the HBC from his Wii and would like to update to 3.4, (I don;t know why, couldn't talk him out of it), but that's not really a big deal. The problem is that I had installed DVDX on his Wii through standard installation, and had not uninstalled it before he deleted the HBC. So I am looking t a couple options right now.

1. Reinstall HBC? It sounds risky, and apparently you cannot do it on the same firmware.

2. Run DVDX installer through Twilight Hack? I think if this would work I could uninstall it without reinstalling HBC over again.

3. Just Update? Forget about it completely?

4. Something I'm missing? ....No idea about this one.

Well this shouldn't be a problem but you can star the health mode thingy where it says "you cannot use the message board".
If you don't know what that is just search it on youtube but that should get rid of dvdx (I think).
