Android unlocking phones to any network

it was a motorola defy plus , xda devs can unlock it for free , but the thing is struggling to get rooted , as all the rooting apps crash on my PC.. so i wrote of the idea . Ended up doing the dreaded text everyone my new number routine , and all is well , pretty happy with Orange so far , no real reason not to be yet , and i aint going to go though the process over again until im not happy with orange..

Location is MAnchester UK.. big enough city.

Orange share networks with t-mobile and virgin. GiffGaff runs off the O2 network. Coverage depends on the above 2facts and which telecom tower is nearest.

And GiffGaff are a pain, even if they are cheap.
