I tried but I found it a lot of hassle to get going (and even then it was hit and miss to if it worked), then I moved my media across to another machine and couldn't be bothered to set it up again.

I just use windows media player to stream now that the 360 has native video playback.

TVersity was alright but beware the basic settings have it download a whole bunch of data everynight that can be Gigabytes in size!

I use TVersity, but only for streaming Sirius radio to the 360. I tried to use it for everything else, but I found the UI to be terribly akward.
For music from my own collection, I use Orb. Winamp Remote works too (based on Orb).
For movies, I connect a usb drive containing the movies directly to it. Orb can stream movies too, but I find that it always plays them fine for a few minutes then starts to get out of sync and buffer way too much.

Yeah I found the UI to be very confusing as well and the fact that it's all coded in Flash. Ugh. Thankfully there's a major update coming out for it at the end of the month apparently. The UI looks tons better and it will hopefully be easier to use.
