So everytime I boot up my Wii U, it crash shortly after booting it up. It happen after pressing OK on the Unproper Shutdown screen, login into my account, reaching the Wii U Menu which only show a loading screen, going into other apps, even closing it down properly crash the console. I sent it to a local video game store for inspection and they told me it's a internal memory issue, which would require to change the whole motherboard.

So now, before doing the latter, would it be possible to do the Unbrick hardmod to fix my Wii U? I have most of the material but not the wires and it's my first time I solder something. Also, I already disassembled the console.

I hacked my Wii U before, but I did not installed any permanent files into the NAND such as CHBC.

You have no experience with soldering...and your first "project" should be a console which requires skillz in micro soldering...that's a bad idea imho.

You should first practice on something which is a little less "risky". Whereby...you can't actually break anything else. Nevertheless, but a little risky for the beginning.

You can reflash the mlc, but you'll need a nand backup from before this problem. The otp.bin won't do you much good unless you know it's software related and where the problem lies.

I can't stress this enough. To the OP do not jump right into a microsoldering project like this without any experience soldering at all. Practice practice practice on some other boards from broken devices or devices that you don't care about first. Once you get a handle on it. Then try the WiiU.

Before doing anything though, do you even have a backup of your WiiU eMMC etc dumped from before it bricked? If not, the harem of won't get you anywhere as you'll need that to restore it into working order (assuming the eMMC and motherboard arent permanently damaged).

I admit that soldering by myself without any prior skills might not be a good idea. I could probably find someone to do the soldering part.

Forgot to say it but yes, I have dumped and made a backup of my Wii U.

Also, where can I find the wires to connect the parts together?

You're going to want some 30 gauge kynar wire for this (i find its just the right size/material.) Its fairly commonly used to install modchips but should dobthe job. Any modchip retailer should carry it pretty much

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
