Hacking Transfer Gateway Save to Retail Cart

Hey all. I'm wondering if it's possible to transfer a save file from the Gateway 3DS to a retail cart. I've only found posts talking about the other way around from retail to gateway saves.

If it's possible, please point me in the right direction

Yes, there's an option to export saves from the SD card to retail games on the Gateway menu.

It'll only work if the save was made using a .3ds rom that was a dump of the same cartridge you want to copy it to. If you were playing with a downloaded rom the save won't work with the cartridge.

it will also only work if the game in question uses a 512kb save chip (e.g mario kart 7)

Ah, okay. I guess I won't be able to do it in my case then. I've been playing the Japanese SSB4 and was just wondering if I could keep the save when I got the US cart
