Just wondering. BTW, I like french fries

I'm wondering, down in the US, do you guys call them 'french fries' or just 'fries'?

My vote goes on potatoes. You can get more things out of potatoes than tomatoes... except ketchup is essential for fries.... Nevermind, if a person has gravy for fries they're set.

I personally dip my fries in sweet Thai chili sauce, it's a killer combination. The sauce also goes perfect with burgers (guess why Vancouver's best burger spot has the sauce on the condiments list).

I voted for tomatoes. Potatoes with sprouts can kill. Tomatoes don't.

And tomatoes are harder to substitute than potatoes.
Sweet potato fries or yam fries taste amazing when done right.

Potatoes. Tomatoes are too sweet to eat by themselves. I also like french fries, curly fries, and anything else that gets deep-fried.

I guess I'd have to vote potatoes. I'm allergic to raw tomatoes. They give me hives. I don't know what chemical in them is affecting me, but when tomatoes are cooked (such as in a sauce or like castup) it doesn't bother me as long as I don't overdo it and consume too much.

Potatoes- in Ireland all our food has potatoes- roasted, mashed, boiled, fried, made into bread, potcheen (which is 95% alcohol), everything.....

Probably the pesticides. Try washing the tomato with detergent (I'm not kidding; take a sponge, detergent, and scrub), or simply peel off the skin and see if you still get a reaction. Then again you might be allergic to some heat-unstable compound that gets partially removed by cooking. But ketchup isn't cooked (I think...)

Wait, it's pasteurized, I think. That's cooking.

lol its kind of funny though since most people who eat potatoes eat the fries version and use Ketchup(tomatoes) as a dipping sauce lol...
