When RetroArch first released on ipad there was a problem with it running too fast on some systems and we were given a fix that resolved the issue. However, that fix resulted in some games running too SLOW on my M2 ipad pro with 16 gigs of ram while they ran perfectly (and at higher resolution) on my iphone 15 pro.
Turns out the BIG issue was the default audio driver and NOT the display of the ipad.
If you’re having trouble maintaining 60fps on upscaled N64 games (even just at 720P) here are the settings that got me back to good
For video turn OFF the “sync to exact content frame rate” setting that was recommended. You don’t need it. Make sure vsync is on and vsync swap interval is set to auto (or 1 works too)
For AUDIO settings, change your driver to openal.
Thats it. NOW you’re actually all set.
