Yay. Then i'm relieved.

EVERYONE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE BEFORE YOU UPDATE WITH THE SINGLE LAYER VERSION.

My concern is that the dual layer code may be written at the end of the update. Turning the console off at 15% would then break DL support.

Turning the Wii off avoids the duplicated channels and all, and allows the SL version of the game to recognise update and play, but when we get a DL dump of Brawl I'm afraid the game will not run at all because the DL code is not copied to the Wii.

I really need to know something. With the single layer image, do you really -have- to update the game before being able to play it? If so, how does one bypass this? I don't want this to brick my Wii or screw up it's system settings like I've been hearing. The guy who installed my Wiikey updated it to work with Mario Galaxy, so whatever version that was is the one I have right now.

Or is the update that starts with the game not as dangerous as everyone's making it out to be?

I think its more likey that the update is to allow the gamecube controllers to work in a Wii game. The whole DL was proabably already there.

RE4 Wii allowed GC controllers so that theory is shot.

System- PAL
Chip-Wiikey
Update change anything other than the obvious, (Dual channels)- No
Problems with the game- Other than the errors, nope.

Also, IT WORKS FINE IN 60Hz MODE, JUST WAIT A WHILE EFTER THE BLACK SCREEN AND IT WILL START!

whats your wiikey firmware? 1.9G?

and must the game update? if you use brickblocker to get rid of the update does the game still work?

System: PAL 3.1E
Chip: Wiid v03
Setup: 50Hz, English
Result: doesn't work and double channels
Errors: Error #001

But I must say I'm not really sure if I have a Wiid...can't check because I haven't the right screwdrivers.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I keep hearing of something called the Metroid Prime trick/method/etc to avoid getting multiple channels.
What is that exactly and how do you do it?
I didn't need to use a trick to play Metroid Prime so I have never really had to learn until now.

darn.. why didnt I notice this release earlier.. now theres 355+ leechers.. 5 seeders XD;;
three days to finish... ug

The Metroid trick, from my recollection:

You need 2 burnt copies, one normal and one with a Wii brick blocker patch applied that cuts out the update.

Start the normal backup, let it update, and unplug the Wii's power at 10%-15% of the update.

Put in your patched backup and you should be good to go.

I don't think enough people have confirmed it working for me to try, but it seems to keep you from getting duplicate channels.

System: NTSC U/C 3.1U
Chip: Wiikey 1.9g
Setup: 480i, 480p
Result: Works at both resolutions (Double News/Weather Channels)
Errors: None

To ensure you don't get a semi-bricked Wii, make sure you have updated to version 3.1 for your region. PAL users, update to 3.1E and NTSC U/C users, update to 3.1U from WiiConnect24 or through a disc from your region.

System- NTSC-U, version 3.1U
Chip- WiiKey 1.9g
Update change anything other than the obvious, (Dual channels)- Extra channels after update
Problems with the game- Error #001 unauthorized device

Has anyone encountered the Error #001 for SSBX and found a solution? I've redone the 1.9g update and played around with the settings in WiiKey Config 1.3. Do I need to do anything to the image before I burn it?
