They have before, iirc, and reverse engineered it... how do you think we know some of what the bootrom does?

also, that other stuff was for others as well as you (since I didn't know how much you knew)

It's difficult to know how much people know just from talking on forums, even moreso with my low-ish post count. You made the right choice since most people here aren't programmers. :P Anyways, I trust you know this stuff, considering you had a hand in it. I probably just need to search harder on 3dbrew.

The real question is where does one go to learn this stuff? :P I'd like to learn about the inner coding and how to navigate through it and etc. :P

learn a programming language first I'd say, after that 3dbrew has a huge amount of knowledge (which you don't need programming to understand per-se, but it's easier)

I'd say you have a decent amount of info here. I am not going to add anything because that is for the rest of the temp to figure out. I just like the info you guys have and can't wait 'til you figure the rest out and then we can all speak about the bootrom. Surprised nobody commented on my sig yet given how long it has had that info. But I guess that is the nature of GBATemp.

I actually started coding at age 10 (which is what, more than ten years ago now?) My advice - head to your local bookstore, grab a few books on javascript, C, C# etc and just start following them. Search things on the internet, ask questions on or search stackoverflow.

It'll probably take you about three years from nil to understand at least some of 3dbrew unless you're an exceptionally fast learner. Put in effort, you'll get there eventually.

Also, if you learn that way and go to college...don't. You'll be bored out of your mind for near three years.

Pics, partial hexdump, and sha512sums please.

I must be pretty fast at learning then, I never programmed anything at all until late 2015, though I have had a basic understanding of how a lot of things work in a computer beforehand

That's...really quick. I didn't know the first damn thing when I started though, so there's that I guess.

I mean, I made a few demo things and video game clones one year in, but I didn't really get it until two. I wasn't capable of assembler or proper pointer use for another.

Lmao I know some good ol' Visual Basic 6 :rofl2:
Which programming language should I know for this? C? :P

VB is a crime against humanity. Drop it and learn C immediately. lol

Also, seconding the need for assembly. That said, for the 3DS you want ARM assembly (which is better and worse in some ways vs x86)

I don't want to share anything please. My info is my info. If I find time I will make a video on how I dumped it tho

So what you've told me is that by the time I've learned it the 3DS will be just about as outdated as an Atari? :P

Well, I kind of expected the response, but I'll be watching for said video (if it actually happened.)

That said, a sha512 wouldn't hurt anyone. You know how long it'd take to brute force 0x10000 bytes, right? The universe will end more than ten times before I'm done even if I threw every single computer in the world at it.

Look at the bright side; Nintendo won't give a crap anymore! :P

Well, whether I find the time in my busy life, I just hope the community continues. Rn I am not letting even Team H20 see it because I am afraid of what possibilities might happen to me if I publicly distribute it. Besides, even if I did link it, no one would be able to do anything hard mod wise (like fixing permabricked 3dses) unless I released a NAND with it. But eh, maybe someone will help you guys out. I just don't want to be attacked because every knows I am not the only one to have a bootrom dump. SALT and Yellows8 both have them

Thanks for the info, anyways. There was a bit there that was interesting.

I didn't mean to be aggressive or anything. Sorry. You know how it is. :<

Assuming you actually did do it, can you provide some simple info? Like, for example, did you use all software, or did you use some sort of external hardware? If external hardware, what kind? And maybe a few hints would be nice, if you feel comfortable with that

Something teams of people can't do yet, you did on your own?

@blujay you will probably regret that you said this. People will now start to bug you just like they did with IOSU, kernel exploit, KTM and whatnot. They will either pester you to release it until you do or it somehow leaks or you will quit the "scene" and be the liar for eveybody until the end of time.

This.
I personally am very decent at bash scripting, but not much else.
