So i am using the hdd support and it works great, people say that their is burning ports problems? I'm not having that problem and it only supports up to 2tb? that true?

Tried it with USB OTG adapter directly into the Switch and into the docking station and it works like a charm.
I've tested 3 USB sticks and 3 TB external HDD.

Wait did you just say you can connect a hdd directly to the switch via OTG adapter? And it works fine?

Burning a port doesn't happen straight away but can take months before it happens. But use at your own risk

What does burning ports mean?
It means 2 much power gets drawn for it burning it out making it not work anymore

That’s the reason I’m not using this unless it’s in docked mode. I don’t need all my games with me all the time. Potential for damaging the port with something plugged in like that too. Don’t even charge my switch via USB-C while using it in handheld mode.

Its the same people who begged people not to use paper clip jigs because of the metal or something equally as goofy
Yeah and they were right. How many people did get their pins broken because of that ? We're giving advice because we don't want people to break their switch consoles. No scare tactics at all

Copper contacts in the switch joycon rails are much softer metal that the usual steel crap in a paper clip. I wouldn’t use anything stronger than copper against my rail :)

Did ur 3TB WORK? OR did u format to 2TB
I have to correct: It is a 4TB drive. I have to check back the partitions tomorrow but I'm nearly sure it's just one big partition.

If it worked as 4tb you'd be the first and only person that it worked for. I could explain why but I did so enough times in the original thread regarding this.

I tried it in the office with one of the backup drives. But I'm not sure enough and don't want to tell something wrong.
I'm going to take a look at it as soon as I'm in the office.

Update:
Sorry, guys, it was the small 1TB drive. :-(

what was confirmed to possibly cause a burned port?

using a self-powered hard drive will protect against this? Or using a Y cable?
