@TariqSoftDev Are you sure that that someone didn't damage any cables or something like that during the procedure? I even contacted one of the vendors of MB on eBay regarding the question. He again supposedly contacted his supplier who said they where interchangeable.

I also see a few japanese "SuperFamicom N3DS XL" editions being made into PAL/US versions. I'm sure they could all just have been lucky, but I find it more likely that the one person who didn't manage it screwed up somewhere.

I'm not trying to be harsh. I'm just trying to understand how it would even remotely make sense to have such an advanced production line.
Dont even ask me xD, find the thread where the guy did this and see for yourself.

Not to go off topic (much) but how would I go about getting an IPS top panel?

At the moment, my Hyrule Edition N3DS has a top TN and bottom IPS and I'm tempted to put an IPS in (although I don't see much of a difference in pictures, I'd prefer to keep them the same (IPS - IPS) if possible).

eBaying "2015 3ds screen" gives me replacement screens, but how can you tell IPS from TN panels being sold there?

The screws aren't that difficult, but shoving all those delicate ribbon cables through the hinge is something I never want to have to try.

And just to complicate things, some of the top IPS screens are really bad, extremely dim hunks of junk that don't match the comparatively good bottom IPSes. Getting a 3DS with 2 decent screens shouldn't require much work, but it does...
