I just pray to the gods it isn't a n3ds exclusive.
It won't be new 3ds exclusive. If it was only for new 3ds they would announced that it is for "new" 3ds system as it was with xenoblade chronicles. Also it's just mario game with level editor so it's not an heavy game that requires the extra cores. So no reason to make it only for new 3ds.

Nintendo page says that it's compatible with the 3DS Family.

BUT! We don't have Super Mario World on the O3DS but we can play courses using the assets from it... kinda funny.

i was iffy about it since you couldn't search levels, but then i remembered i have a sky3ds+, so yeah absolutely getting

Nintendo sure do love making strange choices. I mean, what made Mario Maker fundamentally great? Sharing levels. What have they removed? The main way to share levels. Sure, they've given you StreetPass, and great, they've given you local wireless. But to remove online sharing? I just don't get it. Even giving the 3DS release its own servers would've been fine.

Ah well, I doubt it'll take more than a week for a homebrew level extractor and injector to be released, so everybody here's fine. Heck, it's not as if most of the people reading this reply will even buy the game anyway ;3

I don't get the hype? It's just a watered down verstion of the WiiU game.

I guess it's nice for those who don't have a WiiU.
I have a Wii U and SMM but I still love this. Why? It's portable, I'm not always by my Wii U. I'm satisfied. The only thing that could make this better is a way to transfer levels to Wii U SMM for upload.

The reason SMW isn't there is because of the emulator being too intensive. This is native 3DS code running with assets from a SNES game.

I was excited about it but I lost all hype when I kept pondering about whether it'll be available for O3DS and not just exclusive to the N3DS.

I can't wait to dig up some code!
(So I can use a feature that should have been implemented from day 1, If they don't change their minds and add the search feature shortly before release)

It's not the best looking game in the world, I'm pretty sure the O3DS will be able to handle it. Normally, when they release a game, or showcase it, they'll say if it's N3DS exclusive or not.

I can't wait for this game and the Homebrew that allows you to upload/download levels online!

I have GREAT faith in the GBAtemp community to make a level injector/extractor for this, I'm not at all worried about it. (Heck, this was my first thought upon hearing no online)

So aside from that, this is a literal dream come true for me. I could BARELY afford a 2DS with only 4 games over the span of a year and now that Super Mario Maker is on 3DS, I don't have to gnaw at getting a Wii U for awhile now.

No offense, the Wii U is a great system and if I could, I'd get it in a heartbeat, but financially I'm unable to along with moving a lot more these past few years, it's easier for me to just have a 2DS than to have a Wii U with the controllers and the games and a new TV set.

I am stoked for this. While I won't get this at launch (Curse you Pokemon...) I will totally pick this up down the road, or maybe the fat man with the red suit and beard could hook me up.
