I can verify (having played a good 1/3rd of the game) that it is not in fact a demo disc but the full game.

how can you be playing the game if it doesn't work with a certain modchip (cyclowiz) unless you have a diffrent modchip? and i also heard that the torrent that was uploaded was deleted so no one can get the game now.

There's these places called gaming stores that have demo units with Mario Galaxy. See neogaf.com/forum for impression etc.

i've never seen a wii demo kiosk that you can play, they have only showed game trailers, unless it's different in america.

I guess it is, they're at Gamestops/EBs/etc.

Anyways.... hopefully it is all a fake, I'd rather not get it early and be able to play on a chipped machine

they have recently shipped demo disks to american retailers. that's where the pre-releases come from.

Still, the Wiikey did a good job for most games until now and for gamecube games. I guess there will still be some unprotected games, and one day the protection will be circumvented as well.

If there is a mod chip check, there are two places it can be.

The firmware (hence the brickblocked game doesnt boot), this can be circumvented by game header changes, (id,manufacturer region etc,...)

In Game, which is encrypted code

It's very much a case of wait and see.

If, as mentioned, the original works while the copy doesn't then the fitting of a modchip itself isn't the issue. It would come down to the modchip not 'fooling' the software well enough when running off a DVD R. You could still play the game on an original.

We'll all find out soon enough.

im soo happy that this game doesnt work or could be a fake !

support good games you pirating scum bags ! or there will be no games !
Considering the amount of gamers and the amount of piraters, they really don't lose as much as you would think. Not many people are going to solder anything inside their high priced system. I don't know one person in the entire tri-county area that has a modded system.

youre totally correct.
piracy for the next gen consoles is too complicated for a casual gamer.
#1: the games are gigantic 4.6GB for wii and ~7GB for 360, thats faar to much for a normal user who doesnt even know where to get the isos.
#2:the burning isn´t as easy as it was for the playstation (you need a special burner + special drive for dumping)
flashcards make a bigger loss for nintendo then wii modchips (small downloads and easy to use hardware), so they would fix that issue first.

I see no Super Mario Galaxy files uploaded to usenet yet - so believing it doesn't exist.
the torrent site was affraid they would be busted for the spreading, because their website name was included in the filename of the iso. so everybody could see the name when the iso hits the ngs (you can still repack and rename it, but that takes time). so the upper has to reupp it again with a different torrent.

stay cool folks.

that torrent release (and the not working thing) is total bullshit.

what did nintendo do against gba/nds piracy? nothing.

that modchip detection thing is also bullshit (yeah, maybe they can detect but thats it), its only because of idiots bricking theirs wiis with wrong region update.

peace
