Hey Everyone,

I just got a new SSD, updated the firmware, switched to ACHI mode (it's not a boot drive), and used CDM 3.0.1 64bit edition.

SSD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820220624

I did 1 1000MB read/write tests and this is what came up:

NewPicture-1.jpg

My write speeds are not near as advertised

Max Read: Up to 550 MB/s
Max Write: Up to 520 MB/s

While I don't really care it showed 494 read, but the 172 write is disturbing me. Is this a defective drive?

Some SSDs use compression when writing files to the drive, this improves write speeds, but only with compressible data, the less it can compress the data the slower the write speed. I would assume the way the bench test works tries to get around the compression to show true write speeds of the drive hence your slower result.

I have heard running bench tests will decrease the expectancy of the drive (which would make sense), I'm not going to run more than this first one. However, I have seen benchmark tests and scored pretty much the same as someone else. In the conclusion of the report he said it is keeping it's write speed promise so I think you are right.

@BigOnYa, I think that listening to the same 15 songs on the music player in my dad's car all the time made me kind of hate "normal" music.

I seen a bunny rabbit get swept up and taken by a hawk yesterday in my back yard, it left a bunch of rabbit hair in grass. Wild to see it fly off carrying a rabbit.
