Is it just me or installing a PKG file from the PS3 is faster than from an external HDD? The problem is that it takes some time uploading the PKG files to the PS3 but it might be worth it.

installing a PKG via the internal HDD is way faster than from an external HDD's FAT32's root folder.
SATA 1: 1500 Mbps (theoretical)
1500/2 (reading and writing from the same device) = 750 Mbps
USB 2: 480 Mbps (theoretical and with even more overhead involved)
Not very surprising :)

But I recommend not gearwanking over speed - go eat something, have a walk or shower, or sleep and it's a non-issue :)

Thanks. So, I guess that means games will slow down less and install game data faster if ran from the PS3 than via USB.

There's been a decent number of people over the years that have wised up and gone from getting a warning or two a month to chill and no longer stirring the pot. And then 100x more that will dig their heels in and double down and just keep causing problems lol

Some people are more abrasive than others, hell I can even look past a little bit of trolling here and there. But at some point you cross the line from being a rapscallion to just straight up causing problems, and like, we don't need that, cmon dawg
