Hi there. Got a N3DS XL on firmware 9.2 or something like that. What is the "recommended" custom firmware to get if i want to use it for backups and emulators? Also, i only have a 4GB sd card at the moment, can i easily upgrade to a bigger card later without issues?

I use both RXtools and Aureinand. RXtools has more features imo and custom GBA VC patches, if you're into that. Both have N3ds support and the ability to run backups. If you were to switch SD cards, it isn't that hard. Guides exist (I think one might be stickied) and I managed it pretty easily.

If you would like to cold boot into emuNAND as fast as your system boots normally and with 100% boot rate, look into arm9loaderhax (A9LH). But if you do install A9LH then you'll be using AuReiNand (or Cakes if you set it up before hand).
