OK I am a little confused here. I was thinking that if Waninkoko's loader and Wiigator 0.1 can both load certain patched games, such as COD5 and QOS, then why can't we use the same cIOS and run the games on Softchip.

I'm no coder but I am just curious why Softchip, especially with it's seemingly better compatibility and cleaner code, can't load these games. Strangely enough it's the same with the 0.3 loader. It can play the USA versions but not the PAL versions. Does anybody actually know why?

Softchip doesn't have it's own cIOS, so it has to rely on an already available one. Softchip could be build to work with the 0.1 cIOS (maybe it already does....,I dunno) but 0.1 is impossibly slow, while the 0.3 cIOS reaches some very impressive speeds. That's why the developer(s) of Softchip decided to make it compatible with the 0.3 cIOS. When the new 0.3 gamma cIOS comes out, the developer(s) will probably adept Softchip to that cIOS, because it's even faster than 0.3 beta and has better compatibility than any of the previous cIOS's.
Why Softchip currently has a seemingly higher compatibility than WiiGator's 0.3 beta loader, is because that loader still has bugs in it, which Softchip doesn't.

Requiem and Xorlac are working on the SoftChip's cIOS.
 
Ok this makes a little more sense. If requeim and Xorlac are working on a new or modified cIOS do you know the current progress of the project. I haven't seen any mention of this.

Obviously with Softchip constantly being revised and with the Wiigator Gamma about to be released, these issues will hopefully be resolved. It's just a pain as I have a NTSC Wii, living in the UK, got the PAL versions of QOS and COD5, tried on the backup loaders but only worked patched on 0.1. However it seems the NTSC versions work very well on 0.3, but I can't find a NTSC dump for either game. If I want to have the better version I need to either A) Buy the NTSC version which is doesn't make sense owning the PAL version, or B) Wait for the loader, which doesn't have any release date and could take weeks or month, we have no way to know.

All the recent talk suggest it's due soon, but I am impatient lol.

AT This Time softChip Has Better Pal Compatibility!!!!

They are trying to repair the issues!!!
When newer games come it could mean a challenge at this time...
They are going to try and remove cIOS also...

This is why there is a SVN for updates...
 
Someone said softchip should work with Wario: Shake It. The game loads and plays fine, the secret level kills the game though. I can't get it to work. am I missing something?

find a post by WiiShizzza and download his combined fix channel wario will work with that.

Hello,
First, i want to congratulate you for your work!

Sharing the development of SoftChip is AMHO a very great thing.
We see to many developpers keeping their dev secret.
Why don't do the same for the cIOS dev?
 
We intend to, just as soon as we have something of use to the community beyond speculation and theory. We have made some interesting advancements working on our cIOS, but out code in its current state won't benefit anyone.

As soon as there's at least meagerly tested code, we'll open it up for the world to see and share.

Secret level works fine here with softchip/wiigators 0.3b with requiems fix.
