If they do manage to develop homebrew I'm really going to chip my Wii with the Argon or something. It would be awesome.

Guess all we have to do now is wait.

Hacking the virtual console to dump roms on a DVD/SD card and using the built-in emulators seem the most exciting prospect to me.

headtracking seems pretty cool, but i still can't see the point of all these funky ideas in a real world setting.
What the hell is a real world setting when you're talking about videogames/computers?
Seriously?

If there's something cool about all the crap Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony releases for their consoles, there's no reason something made by homebrew developers couldn't be cool.

If you're just going to be a pessimist and tell everyone off who believes that something useful can come of this, then you're not helping anything. You're not encouraging development or anything. You're just making it shittier for the rest of this. I see your posts as nothing but trolls.

And I am definitely looking forward to homebrew.

Homebrew channels.....oh boy....it's a wii gamer's wet dream

Lets just hope it means that someone out there will make some hombrew which uses the wiimote/sensor in a more creative way than what we have been seeing.....thats all I have to say

I'm just waiting for the one MUST HAVE feature - a custom firmware, or a way of changing the language on a Japanese firmware console.

Absolutely. It sucks that we are a minority, though, as it may take a while to happen. I really want to play SMG.
then why not to play it now? : D
Ps. i'd like to get japanese language on my pal wii. maybe it would make it less sucky.

Basically I want to play it in English, to maximise the experience, because one can only play it for the first time once..

Yeah, I'm aware of it, but I have a JPN wii, so there are region issues that noone has managed to fix yet (wiikey promised to, but they havent said anything about anything in months..). Something to due with the lacking language support on Japanese Wiis.

My hope is that now that someone (and hopeully soon everyone, if the guy from the presentation actually decides to talk about it) can run arbitrary code on the Wii, soon we will be able to modify the firmware to support true region free.

I'd like to be able to put my whole MAME & Virtual Pinball collections on an external hdd & use the wiimote as the controller. How possible would that be?
I also liked the idea about mounting all the Wii games from an external hdd but it's not very cost effective when you consider the prices of external hdd's compared to buying DVD-R's in bulk. You'll end up paying around 4x more for the same amount of space.
I bought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago with 160gigs.... which isn't nearly enough. I plan on getting a 1 terabyte external hdd eventually to put all my music on and should still have a bunch of space left over for games and what not. It would be really cool to have access to all that music via my Wii through my home stereo, desktop & laptop.
I'd also like to see some Wii homebrew for musicians. Tabledit & GuitarPro would be alot cooler running through the tv. I'd much rather play my guitar, mandolin or dobro while sitting on my couch in the living room as opposed to sitting in front of a computer screen.

QFT. If you keep rejecting ideas.. no point in making this topic in the first place. Anwyways, I wouldn't mind putting playing around with Wii homebrews. I just hope it doesn't cause future problems if it were to have an error, like bricking a Wii.. :x
