Hacking Smash Bros Brawl freeze...

I've got Vwii all set up with d2x beta 53 and I'm having trouble getting Smash Bros to work from HDD backup.

I followed all standard directions (I used Lego Batman to get HBC on).

I know there were issues back in the day with it being a Dual Layer disc, but it worked fine on my old Wii once the cios stuff caught up with the problem.

Any ideas? I thought it might be a bad dump, but I've tried a couple of time and I still have the same results.

My friend's wii freezes on/after the character selection screen regardless of if it's disk or backup, even tried an NTSC backup.
