Hacking Slow loading times

I couldn't really find any information about this but... Is it just me or are the DVD backups loading really slow?
Maybe it's the loader or something? (I'm using NeoGamma)
When I use my original DVDs the loading time is just fine.

Any information on how I can speed things up or why it's like this would be awesome.

If your Wii is soft modded then it's a known issue.

'Backups' can only be read at 3x speed, not 6x like retail discs.

Switch to a USB loader and enjoy load times much faster then even retail discs.

Yeah it's soft modded... What's the reason for only reading at 3x speed?
Are they working on fixing this?

And also, how much space would my USB storage device need? (4GB per game? or does it compress the games somehow?)

Dunno, It's not gonna be fixed.

WBFS managers will remove the update partitions from your disc and only keep the game data.
So games will be smaller in size depending on the game partition.
Wii sports use less than 1 GB as i know...

3X read speed for softmods won't ever be fixed.

Scrubbed games can vary anywhere from 100MB to 4.3GB. It all depends on the game.

I have like 155 games on my WBFS drive and am using around 300GB. So 2GB average, but as I say, it varies a lot.

Aha, what a shame. :/
3x really isn't fast, it's like.. what, 4.15MB/sec?
My internet connection is faster than that.

Someone should make a network Bootloader, so I could just keep my DVD backups on my computer and have my Wii access them over the network, Heh.. that'd be something!... But I doubt that the Wii's wifi card is very good/fast.

But yeah... looks like I'll have to get a USB storage unit then
