so since we can inject a firm on nand dumps at 11.2 or less, we can inject a custom firm and immediately have a9lh?

if so, that would be legit awesome (when its out anyway).

this is my last hope for my bricked 3ds :( i have a 10.3 and 9.2 dump but it refuses to boot anymore after i did a tinyformat. i hope this becomes real and helps me fix this little bastard.

I don't see how tinyformat could have bricked your 3DS. Do you definitely have arm9loaderhax.bin from Luma on the root? Did you try other SD cards in case yours got corrupted so the 3DS can't read arm9loaderhax.bin? Did you make sure the SD card is FAT32 (if you formatted a 64GB+ card in the computer it would have formatted it as exFAT). Did you already make a topic and get advice on the matter?

I already know how to mess with 3ds systems, i'm not asking for advice. i'm telling you what i have.

it was a partial brick on 10.3. would only boot randomly, but no entry points for homebrew worked at that time. then soundhax came along. i used soundhax to downgrade to 9.2. the system was booting more reliable but still volatile and prone to crash (especially when entering system settings, every time it crashed).

i tried upgrading to 11.2, 11.1 and back down to 9.2 via hard mod. someone suggested tinyformat. so i did it. now the system doesn't turn on at all no matter which working NAND dump i flash back to it. the blue light turns on and nothing more. i've flashed and re-flashed 9.2, 10.3 and 11.1.

im not an average user. i understand all my options and i hope i'm not coming off as mean but every time i suggest something about some hax that comes out, someone thinks they can fix my brick with troubleshooting. I've spent DAYS working on this and I had a glimmer of hope until that tiny format :( I don't care what can/cannot occur in theory, in practice, this is what happened.

if i can get a9lh installed on the dump and flash back, im hoping this will help me to fix the brick although i've pretty much given up hope.

Oh, wow, ok. Did anyone have any theories as to what tinyformat actually did that screwed up your console? Or it's still a mystery? I'm sad for your console but at least it's very interesting!

no ideas i can come up with. the system did boot about 2 times after the tiny format on 9.2 but very random and it hasn't booted since.

everyone always says "well a nand backup will restore no matter what". this is not true.

maybe if i can get into a9lh, i can mess with the file system and fix it some how. i should've downgraded to 2.1 and tried to get OTP :( i really regret not doing that and i was PISSED that tiny format caused this to finally not boot ever again.

other weird things - when on 10.3, pressing power would get a blue light but nothing else. pressing power then holding the wifi switch would cause it to turn on. but this behavior eventually stopped. i sat through an 8 hour work shift, pressing power and the wifi, then shut off. power, wifi, shut off - at least 20 times. i come home from work, pop in a cart and try again - BAM booted right up.

also when on 9.2 and semi-stable, systems settings would freeze, and the HBL would freeze too if i didn't launch something quick enough. most of the time i just straight up booted a .3dsx from soundhax (getting soundhax to work was a pain sometimes too). safesysdowngrader worked just fine, but FBI froze EVERY SINGLE TIME. i think FBI relies on the launcher to get permission though whereas safesysdowngrader requests the permission using exploits.

Sounds like you have a corrupted NAND chip. If that's the case the system is a lost cause.
Geez, a bit harsh and quick to say. Maybe this might be part of the problem, I'm not sure though.

From Plailects 3DS modding tutorial main page towards the bottom in the "What do I need to know before starting?" section. 3ds.guide
Your SD card should be MBR, not GPT (the SD card that comes with the device will be MBR by default).

Can someone point me to instructions on how to use the dsiware transfer method for 11.3? Since that + sighax will be the only way to install CFW I'd like to have the first step prepared at least.

You can't on 11.3. Everything was patched. Sighax will also already require custom firmware to even be installed.

Sighax will mean that, given NAND access, CFW may be installed from any original firmware.

Not sure if it's possible to get DSiWarehax to gain NAND access any more though.

I think it still can, the reason why DSiWare is no longer feasible is because the home menu checks for latest NFRIM in 11.3 before loading. Therefore DSiWare can still write to NAND, it just simply won't work to downgrade anymore since once you write a lower NFIRM the 3DS won't boot (black screen). In fact people can restore a NAND backup on 11.3 using DSiWare.

You wouldn't need to downgrade NFIRM. You would just immediately install your sighaxed NFIRM.

Thanks for correcting me, but that still implies that some sort of NAND access is necessary, which would require either A9LH or a hardmod. And thanks to 11.3 DSiWarehax is no longer an option on that firmware.

DSiWareHax *can* be used on 11.3 for NAND backups and installing SigHax. The two main issues are 1, SigHax isn't out yet; and 2, you need a hacked 3DS with a legitimate copy of one of the vulnerable DSiWare titles to transfer over. Those titles are no longer available for purchase on the eShop.

I understand once we have sighax this will be possible, but I was ccommenting that DSiWare can still access NAND. It's considered patched now because of NFIRM limitation and home menu loader, but it still has NAND access.

Yes it is, it still has NAND access. So it can dump and write NAND.

You can use the other DsiWare Hax method
