The S2 disk wont work becouse of the "Logical Sector Size" is 1024 bytes.

No harddrive with an "minimum" Sector Size on 1024 will work.

At least not yet. (maybe in cIOS_rev17 or Hermes v5 when we come to that)

That is strange. I am using a S2 portable 500GB with all space used as one WBFS partition and have no problems at all (cIOS rev 14; rev 13b worked also back when it was the current one). A friend of mine has a S2 portable, too, I think it is the 250GB version, and it is working like a charm. All I did was formatting it after unboxing because there was some stupid windoze sh*t on the disk. After that I created the WFBS partition and had no problems ever since.
I use USB Loader GX as my loader and Wiithon (Linux) as my WBFS-Manager.

Model: Samsung S2 Portable HXMU 050DA/G32

According to the sticker my drive is manufactured 2009.8. So at least models manufactured up to this date should work without any flaws.

same happens to me, i got a 500gb S2 samsung hdd for my wii, it works flawlessly (WBFS, FAT32 and NTFS tested ok!), and only after i knew many wii users were having problems with it.

mine is HXMU050DA/G32, manufacturer date 2009.10

i live in brazil, bought more 2 units for friends, all them worked fine.

I've bought this HDD too and I have the same problem. Could not format into WBFS. Tried everything, format with FAT32, NTFS, RAW, but when I try to format to WBFS afterwards I got a error message. Something like the USB driver is in use. I used WBFS Manager, WBFS intelligent. When I used WBFSSync, I could format into WBFS and the WBFS recognized the USB HDD. I put some games into it but the Wii just did not recognize it.

natasdrol said there is a stupid windows file inside the HDD, and that is why I cannot format it. Any tip about removing this miserable file from HDD before trying to format into WBFS?

why don't you try 'usb loader gx' or 'cfg usb loader' with fat32 or ntfs formatted hdd?

could you please tell us the manufacturing date on the sticker?

afaik, you got the s2 model described here:

Thanks you for the help,

I didn't really know that usb loader gx could work with FAT32 formatted HDD.

I tried to use CFG USB Loader, but the loader stuck at the inicial logo screen. I had to reset wii.

I will start from the beggining. Will return my NAND backup to the system and then apply the hack again, HBC with the most updated versions like cIOS rev17. Will install again Loader GX and CFG Loader and try to use FAT32 HDD.

Maybe this could work.

Manufactoring date: 12-2009. At least the sticker says so.

regards.

Crap... I have the same Hdd, why didn't I check this forum before buying?
mad.gif

Is there a list of Hdd that works with Wii?
Because the Hdd manufacturer doesn't list the sector size as far as I can see.
