I have a launch day Switch on FW 4.X that I have yet to modify with CFW. I’ve been busy with the recent birth of my daughter. So busy that I didn’t even realize Smash Ultimate releases tomorrow.

I plan to have two switches, one for CFW and one to get pay my officially bought games online. With my daughter that is further anyway than I anticipated.

So if I buy Smash tomorrow and update my Switch to play it, am I locking myself out of CFW in the future? If so I’ll just wait to play. I know I can play it on my modded Switch, but I want to play online and I don’t want to start a save file I can’t use later on my OFW Switch and owned games.

Thanks for any help.

6.2 is hackable with Atmosphere, so even if you update you can still get CFW.

But tomorrow 6.3 could come out and ruin CFW, can never predict the future when it comes to hacking.

Once you start using CFW though you might get banned if you go back online after, unless you make a Nand backup and restore it. I highly recommend you make a Nand backup before you do any CFW.
