I've trimmed a couple of games and removed the update partition during testing of SAK 1.5.0 and they showed up in the Home Menu just fine. In fact, as long as NCCH[0] was still there the games showed up fine, but I'm not sure if they boot. I'll re-check now just to be sure.

Update: Nope, the games show up, but do not boot if they were Super-Trimmed. Trimmed games (with removed padding) work fine though, so you can make huge space savings on that.

sony says hi :P
If you're referring to OtherOS, everybody knows why it was removed - because it contained a critical loophole allowing users to execute custom code on the PS3 side. That's the way GeoHot originally exploited the system - through OtherOS. Sony wanted to save their skin by restricting the feature altogether, but alas, by doing so they angered the hacking community and we all know how that turned out for them. It was never about restricting features and always about securing the system.

I quote: "This is the coveted PS3 exploit, gives full memory access and therefore ring 0 access from OtherOS. [...] I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3."

If you want to complain about Sony removing OtherOS, here's the culprit. It was removed specifically because it was a security risk that could not be "fixed" software-side.

....still counts :P

Going by that logic, I should blame Nintendo for removing Swap Note because "think of the children".
also true.....slight difference is that swapnote was never really a "feature" of the console, more an optional piece of software.....afaik nintendo didn't have to give refunds for removing swapnote....unlike sony for removing otherOS

also true
To be fair though, I do consider that a blunder of epic proportions. Then again, MiiVerse came along after that, so I suppose the messaging void was filled by that. Still a shame to see users shafted just because Nintendo is holier than thou though.
