Did you happen to find that byte in HxD? I can't seem to find it no matter where I look. However I found it right away in WinHex(which I cant save with the trial version)

Well from what I can tell, whether or not you have an actual game cart doesn't quite matter, because I think you need to have a rom of Pokemon X if you want to rom hack or use pk3ds

I think you should download a pm game cia the same region as you are
then get romsf and extract romsf.bin to romsf folder
then you can use PM3DS edit it
after edited save then repack romsf and test it

Also does anyone know if you can update games by using the eshop bypass? I'm trying to update smash to play online, but I can't quite figure out how i'd go about updating

it is a patch on cia so you must get cia first then patched then extract cia get romsf

(Second question) Are they misspelled?
(third one) Did you have the wrong file?
If not, then Windows couldn't end troubleshooting, try something else, like shooting Clippy.
