Rom sites

Ok I don't have any specific personal beefs with any rom site owners per se, but this week, I have come to the conclusion that rom site owners must be either the unluckiest, or the most incompetent, or just the most disinterested lot on the internet. Not to mention using immature petty little shits to moderate them has to be the greatest way to ensure they are no better than havens of miscreants that only THINK they are adults.

Hey Polis, you ARE a worthless cunt aren't you. No save telling me when your birthday is, there isn't one single 13 year old goofball on this site that is more immature than you are.

-snip-, closed due to indifference at the very least. One day it is THE place to go, the next no apparent management and just a dead site.
-snip-, once a great site, now, just a list and a source of browser hijacks.
-snip-, one day the guy is running it, the next he's 'no longer interested'.
-snip, nice looking site, home to a great stash, when it's actually there. Oh and run by the most belligerent biased bitches of moderators. Wish I had never found the place after Dash died.
-snip- very fun chat site, where the -snip- people went when -snip- was abandoned. But having an account vanish with a crash, and all your posts, mostly kills one's interest.

There are others out there.
But the above, they were either killed by assholes, left to die slowly from neglect, or they roll over and die on a regular basis from random mishap.
I don't think any of them were stomped on by the man, but I have no evidence to base that comment on.
I do know this much, I'm through with joining sites that can't be relied on to survive what never seems to be fatal to anyone else.
I've seen forums that were attacked by actual vicious assaults bounce right back up because the person running it wasn't incapable.

In the future, if I need a file, it's either going to be file name+torrents on Google, or I will just visit my newsgroup.
I've had my fill of worthless rom sites.

if i want roms, I go to google and go to a torrent tracker and download them via utorrent.

It's so hard to find torrents that are direct downloads

I think since the sites are dead, it's fine to name them (Not 100% sure though). Always better to check with a mod first.

OK people, chill with the name dropping of pirate sites. Even if they are gone or just severely limited, many of them still contain copyrighted material and therefore cannot be named here. I removed all the sites named thus far. Please don't name any more, not in initials, not with hints....just don't do it, mmkay?

And yes, I mostly agree with the OP about the state of such sites. The DS scene has gotten very sloppy lately.

I used to be in a game server and in their IRC they had a script that could read words in normal sentences and could filter out harsh language.

Not really vital. The point of my post is I have finally decided the whole rom hosting scene is a waste of energy and whatever cash is required to run them.

If they are not getting any form of advertising cash flow from them, that makes them idiots indeed.

They make such a fuss over their sites, that can't manage to maintain a stable presence online and it only makes the people look incompetent.

Well, when I played DS, I used a direct download site that is still alive. Good site, just a weird naming scheme.
