Rock Band 2 Announced

Shocker! Harmonix has done and made Rock Band 2. The game will be out on the Xbox 360 this September, and the PS3 later this year. The sequel will feature a new set list, and the RB2 bundle will feature "quieter, more realistic, and more reliable instruments" says Lead Designer Dan Teasdale. The good news for those who already own Rock Band is that all the songs you've purchases so far will be playable and supported in Rock Band 2. As far as Harmonix is concerned, there's no difference between "Rock Band 1 DLC" and "Rock Band 2 DLC" — we're just releasing awesome songs every week onto the Rock Band platform, all of which are playable by the Rock Band titles that support DLC," says Teasdale. The sequel will offer folks a new way to play the DLC they currently own, however. Sure, Rock Band 2 should come as no surprise, but it does sound like Harmonix is pushing things forward. Teasdale points out:

We've been working hard with Microsoft and Sony to develop a way to share content between games, and we're really happy that we'll be the first game to support fully functional cross-title DLC.

rockband2 is my choice i think because rockband started the all the instruments thing and now, they probably just perfected it as guitar hero world tour is a first of the kind

definitely Rock Band 2. they are improving the instruments from the first one, the DLC is backwards compatible, and they said they might include a world tour mode online.

I am not sure if it is true, but I read on Wikipedia that GH4 will have downloadable content for the Wii. My brother recently took the 360, so I am in a position where I want the DLC, but I don't have the system. GH4 would probably work for me. Truthfully though, I want Rock Band 2

Well here in Australia we still don't have Rock Band 1, and at this stage I doubt they're going to release it.

First full band game to arrive down here will get my cash.

I dont think so. Rockband was the first to release a set of drums (not counting the arcade games from MTV), and activision had the oportunity to see if people like them, and if they wanted something else, and then work on top of that model. Maybe the drums in guitar hero are better...

Anyways, I'll choose guitar hero as I already have a guitar. And it will offer DLC, song creation, and band vs band (or so it seems).

I can't deny that Harmonix's 1st party peripherals are on the bar of quality (well for guitars at least)... I'm still going for Guitar Hero : World tour because of the Wireless peripheral (and besides I only have a Wii)

but I'm Hands down to their new controller it looks realistic...

GH World Tour sounds reaaaally good, and it will support DLC on the Wii for the first time. Also, I already have the GH3 guitar, so it's cheaper for me.
