Hello,

I have my vWii set up with Wiiflow v4.1.2 used to launch backup games from a USB HDD. d2x-v10-beta52-vWii is installed. I can launch Wiiflow and play games perfectly fine. The only issue is during gameplay, if I press the Home button and click on Wii Menu to return to the vWii system menu, I'm presented with a blank screen, the Wii Remote disconnects, and the Wii U freezes, I'm forced to unplug power to the system in order to use it again.

Anyway to fix this issue? Thanks for any help.

PS: Completely off-topic, but is it ok to use WAD Manager 1.7 on the Wii U's vWii to install wads like channel forwarders (for Wiiflow) and VC games?

Have you tried using Configurable USB Loader instead of Wii Flow?

No, but I guess I'll try it out. Is v70 MOD r51 released on Jan 12 the latest version? As seen here: https://code.google.com/p/cfg-loader-mod/downloads/list

EDIT: So I've got CFG USB Loader setup and working perfectly. I can return to the vWii system menu now. One thing though, I set up the config.txt file with my preferences, how can I tell CFG USB Loader to filter the games shown to only show Wii games (I have GCN games on the same HDD). I'm able to do it via the GUI, but it doesn't save the setting so I have to do it every time I start CFG USB Loader. Is there a config.txt setting for default filtering on startup?

EDIT2: My Wii U just froze again while trying to return to the vWii system menu by hitting the Home button in-game. Happens with Wiiflow and CFG USB Loader. Any other suggestions? Could it possibly be the cIOS I'm using? I'm currently using d2x-v10-beta62-vWii base 56 slot 249

I've gotten this while using WiiXplorer. If I just hit the home button and select System Menu, it freezes on a black screen and I have to unplug/plug in the Wii to get it working. However, if I use WiiXplorer's built in "Exit", I don't have any problems. I don't know what the deal is, but at least in WiiXplorer I have the second option of getting back to the system menu without incident.

I use CFG USB Loader, but it hasn't given me any problems, so I can't comment on problems with it.

EDIT: As for configuring CFG USB Loader, this is a great article with all the possible things you can do, so check there. The article talks about a program that does it if you have a PC. I'm on a Mac, so I just edited the config.txt file with the codes they list towards the bottom to set it up how I like it.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
