Hello,

I have a few questions:

I'm using retroarch 1.5.0 on a regular Wii and I was playing Super Mario Land but it runs quite badly and gets especially bad at certain points (slowdown?) like at the sections with boulders. I was wondering what settings are best for Gameboy games or if it's just a problem with Gambatte on the Wii. I also tried mGBA but that has sound issues.

I'm also wondering if it's possible to have a Gameboy handheld background on the Wii version of retroarch?

Thanks!

Try this. I test gambatte a lot and it can handle the more resource intensive filters. There really shouldn't be a setting that's slowing SML down so much.

You can mess with overlays to get a border, the full screen option was never implemented on Wii, which would easily function as border support. So you have to mess with the zoom setting and overlay0_rect = "0.0,0.0,1.0,1.0"
It's very tedious, personally I would just do a 3x scale without filtering and it doesn't leave much space for borders, unless of course you're using a widescreen TV.
