Both games have worked just fine for a while. I played through them back on 1.3.3.
Thats great, 3 is my fav in the franchise! ^_^ Shame there's a little screen tearing on the left hand side of the screen though, and some audio overlap when too many sounds occur!

How do you get the retroarch 3ds cia to load and have all the cores in it on the o3ds?

I load it and all I get it a black screen and it goes bk to the home screen.

Any ideas why?

Hmmm I must have a bad copy of Metal Slug 5... it boots up without the Unibios boot screen... meaning I can't use the diognostic settings to change the sweat into blood....

EditL Nevermind.... had to boot up one of the other games like Metal Slug 4 first!

Could you maybe rework the image banner for Snes9x 2002 (PocketSNES) to be more in sync with the rest of the cores, please?.

If I remove the outline, the 2002 becomes invisible on light backgrounds. There isn't a great alternative, other than perhaps moving it upwards so that it inherits the purple BG? Would be crowded, though.

Oh I wasn't actually referring to the outline, but rather the font used for the 2002 core, which looks like the odd one of the bunch compared with its 2005 and 2010 counterparts. :P

The font is the same, it's the outline that affects the look. However, I could have done it this way.

It looks good, don't get me wrong.
Maybe I'm not explaining myself really well.
The main question was, why the change from the font you use in your Snes9x 2002 icon:

Compared to the one used for the 2005 and 2010 cores, which is similar to the text shown here:

Oh, you mean the logo? Because that's what snes9x looked like in 2002, of course. Anyone old enough to remember that logo will definitely get a kick out of it, that's why I chose it.

Yep that's what I was looking for!
Thanks for explaining, turns out I wasn't that off then. :p

tweaked the xmb menu a bit and added the necessary icons to the nightly archives ( in retroarch/media/ ), they are prescaled and will load/look better than the ones on github.
there are 4 themes to choose from (in settings-->menu), although some might have some missing icons.

so just copy the retroarch folder to the root of the SD card, and recheck your directory settings in case you have changed them

Awesome work!
The change in the XMB media files did the trick, now all my cores boot up ROMs properly.
And my god how beautiful those icons look, specifically for the Retro XBM menu. :)

I have three questions:
  • How can I setup Boxarts for the games? I saw that option in Menu too, but have no clue how to do so.
  • What's the deal with the Network and Updater options? Are they placeholders at the moment?
  • How can I change the Wallpaper that the third XBM menu uses as default?
Out of that, I think I don't have anything to feedback except the fact that using Fast forward mapped to a button causes some screen tearing sometimes, but only when you have it active or goes away in a few seconds. I noticed it mostly in GenPlus atm, have to check the other cores.

I forgot to mention it, but you can now import content, which will expand the xmb horizontal menu with new entries, where recognized files are grouped by system, importing takes a bit of time so I recommend first importing single files to see if everything is working correctly before attempting to scan a directory.
you can do this with "Add content --> Scan file" or "Add content --> Scan Directory".
also, no need to do this unless you are using the CIA build, since it is useless without core loading.

also there is a small bug with importing with the current nightly when XMB is the active menu, so either change to rgui or wait for the next build, it shouldn't take long.

boxart might show up for imported games, I haven't tested it myself, but you need the boxart files, normally they are downloaded with the network updater, but it is just a placehodler for the 3ds version.
you can if you want use the desktop version of retroarch to download the boxart and copy it over to you SD to see if it is working, but seeing that most boxart files are pretty huge, I doubt that it will work well without down-scaling them first.

as for the wallpaper, did you try settings --> menu --> menu wallpaper ?

Nice, the menu looks so much better now!

There's one problem that's popped up though, I've noticed that sometimes when turning off or switching video filters while a game is running, the menu graphics can become corrupted and sometimes cause a crash. Changing the integer scale setting also seems to crash snes9x 2002 every time for me. Using the CIA builds.

load Content --> Select File And Detect Core

I don't have the entry "Select File and detect core" using the latest nightlies... Is there something wrong with the option and it was removed??
Of course I use the retroarch.cia, but now I've got to first load a core and then the game.

Thanks anyway for improving retroArch3DS!!

did you copy the retroarch folder to your sd card ? also check your directory settings for core (/retroarch/cores/) and core info (/retroarch/cores/info/).

So more feedback on picodrive.cia:
- Tearing is gone forever and it's awesome.
- Micro Machine 96 can't load.
- The sound. I've found an issue. For example if you take Sonic2 and 3, when you get a ring the sound is highly metallic. Maybe it's a bug with high frenquencies or something? This bug is not here with Sonic 1.

After those 2 nitpick, the emulator for me will be absolutely PERFECT. :)

Thanks so much, my entry of core info pointed to /retroarch/cores instead of /retroarch/cores/info... Changed it and now everything works perfectly!!
BTW do you have any news regarding the gpsp dynarec issue?? Did you already look into it and have an idea what is causing the instability??

You achieved so much these last days, I'm really excited to see what you can still do for this best piece of 3DS homebrew :)
Thanks!!!

gpsp never crashed for me on the o3DS, so I assume this only happens on n3DS? that's the thing though, n3DS only issues aren't issues I can "look into" :P
