Is there any way to remove unnecessary files after installing a game.

For example - I want to install Witcher 3 and remove the language packs (French, Portuguese, etc) to save space.

I've been looking all over the internet and can't find anything - any help would be very much appreciated!

Don't you have to install the Language packs to begin with...If I recall you install game then can install extra language packs other than english, or region of the game.

If you have the game still, you can delete it from the switch and re-install it without installing the Language packs....Your game saves will stay intact. There are 3 DLC packs that are strickly Language packs only, so don't install them. Each of the DLC are about 2.2 gb so you know which to look for. Game install is about 28 gb and update is about 3.3 gb. Good Luck!

No. Different regions have different language pack sets. There is no release that have only English language.

Finally with tinfoil you can delete updates and Dlc easily, so you can delete languages files that you don't need!

This it not necessary. Just download the standalone game + dlcs, this has only English language. Has been out since January 2021... be nice if people did their research before replying! But hey this is gbatemp... can't expect much.

You dont have to pirate anything either ;) if you own the Complete Edition on the eshop, you automatically got the license to download the standalone game + dlcs separately. Exact same content, minus all the unnecessary language packs ;)

If you sail the high seas, it shouldn't be too difficult to find either.

the only real issue with this is people refuse to make mods for the standalone version

In theory, you can use pactools to repack nsp files, removing files you don't want. I've tried to do this with 1-2-switch, but wasn't able to put a valid nsp back together because of all of this keys and enctyption BS

NSPack work, But the NSPs will have insecure licenses

yeah its not exactly simple for people that don't know how to use a hex editor to get the key as well as people that don't know how to figure out which nca is what exactly. but I've done it many times to shrink games by a few GB hell even Dying Light you can save a few GB removing unneeded crap. even some dlc and updates add a lot of crap that you don't need

Yes, I wish there was an app like UMDgen for PSP that would make the process or removing files more casual.
