Hacking Remove Acekard 2i from the recommended carts list?

You can not deny that akaio is a very excellent homebrew kernel,which has brought so much happy to ak2i usrs. However, ak2i must be updated to support the latest system firmware so that the users can enter akaio. Therefore, the updating is also very important.

akaio is an extremely solid kernel and many users don't update their systems.

if you aren't using the e-shop or buying a 3ds xl, there isn't much of a need for updates. pulling it off the list because the team is slow doesn't make much sense to me. users should be conducting a bit of research and in those regards adding a statement that updates may take more than a month would make more sense then simply pulling it off the list. also, why would you give in to people who bitch? let them bitch all they want, it doesn't lessen the fact that akaio is a great kernel, has a near perfect homebrew compatibility, and offers great features like homebrew soft-reset, cloud saving, wifi updates, etc. it is also the most well documented kernel available allowing users to fix their own issues by reading a simple wiki article.

if acekard simply did not release a 4.3 update, then i would agree that the card would no longer be useful to those who update. but it is still extremely useful to everyone else. many potential flash kit buyers are still rocking the ds phat, ds lite, dsi, and dsi xl.

thinking about removing it seems a bit premature. it isn't dead yet.

I'm not trying to be confrontational, but the majority of this post is "you don't need all of that" or "don't do that" and that shouldn't be the criteria for recommendations. The AK team is, of course, doing the best they know they can do. However, limiting their new userbase to people who don't use the eShop, have no plans on updating, or have an older console is a bit odd. It's similar to how the Cyclo was eventually phased out, no? The current build when released was amazing and great, but then came a new update, followed by a new console, followed by updates on that console and the team faded into obscurity. The cart itself was fabulous and did more than any other cart on the market, but its lack of updates or nay news about them is what led to its demise.

I don't think we should judge flashcarts on whether they work on the 3DS. We're lucky that they are working in the first place. Their primary function is to work on the DS and all judgement should be based on that. If there are no updates for the latest DSi firmware then it should be marked down.

if that is the argument then the thread topic should be changed to "flash kits recommendations for the 3ds". because the ak2i is still among the best kits for older generation nintendo handhelds. the r4 1:1 clone is on the list and it doesn't work on the 3ds. so why are we even discussing removing the ak2i if compatibility with the 3ds is the only criteria for doing so?

Considering the presence of r4 on the list, removing the acekard for that reason doesn't sound right.
Instead, in the flash cart chart, ds on 3ds compatibility should be changed to partial and the color to blue or yellow.

Sounds good to me. If support keeps being a month slow or drops I can just change the support to partial and have a little explanation as why.
