That is exactly my point, no I don't understand, that is why I am asking, dummy!!! :P Sorry for being so retarded as you quite bluntly put it earlier on!!! Knobsack!
And what good will it do, if some random member tells you some information. Its still pointless because noone knows at this point.

Get a cheap usb2 external. Will be 10 times faster than the Wii u Bd drive. I highly doubt a SD will make a difference.

So just forget the other geezers comments, he's an arse, I wasn't talking to him. So say for example we do need a media type for the img. would you suggest something like these to do the job:-

WD500GB External (would of thought plenty of space for games):- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Elements-500GB-Portable-Hard-Drive/dp/B005A97A86/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1402256515&sr=8-6&keywords=wd 500gb external hard drive

With one of these:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Storite-SuperSpeed-External-Seagate-Toshiba/dp/B00IR78GL8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1402256711&sr=8-5&keywords=y cable wii u

I'm just summarizing we do need a HDD?. What do you think? I mean worst case and I don't need it I can still use it for my Wii :)

If Crediar is correct you will need to get a WiikeU for game backups anyways as he said it is most likely going to be a homebrew only hack.

No one knows. Asking questions like that cannot be answered even though someone would like to answer. The reason is we do not know. Buying stuff without any information is counterproductive in every way, since you may just end up buying stuff you don't need. As quite a few people have said, wait for 30C3. Something could be revealed there.

Game are 25GB each. Maybe they will figure our how to scrub them someday. But until then, 500GB would be less then 20 games, not very much.

Listen mate, you've got to learn when to stop. Nobody can or will tell you what you need to get because this isn't in the open yet. Hell, I've seen some quite big devs in another topic saying that a pirate-less homebrew-platform may be an option. See this post. < CLICK

The process of hacking a console is very simple.
1. People figure out what hardware is inside
2. People start reverse-engineering (like making the console, but backwards) to figure out what the software does and how the hardware responds to this
3. a homebrew proof of concept that doesn't do anything is released
4. a homebrew platform (like HBC for Wii) is created
5. if the chance is there, some developer will create a backup loader.
Please take note that this is very simplified but somewhat reflects the steps needed. This is a lengthy process (unless there are some fatal system flaws, like the case was with Wii).

RIght now we are between point 3 and 4, it's not even sure point 5 will be reached and if it will be reached, only then will you know if it will be an USB or SD solution. Untill then, nobody (and I repeat, NOBODY) will be able to tell.

Clear? :)

Ok, back on topic.

My understanding is there is 1 area (shared by both pcc and arm cpus in the wiiu) of OTP (One Time Programmable) memory. This area is at least 1KB (1024 bytes) in 8 banks of 128 bytes. Banks 0-7.
Bank 0 (128 bytes) is for vwii. And while in the vwii mode only bank 0 is visible. (banks 1-7 appear to be disabled and inaccessible in vwii mode (at least currently)).
So if my understanding is correct, why is otp_ppc.bin only 64 bytes and not 128 bytes in length? What would be in the other 64 bytes?

Your understanding is partially incorrect. The Espresso and the Starbuck have separate OTPs, each of which can only be accessed by the processor it belongs to. The OTP that you're thinking of is the Starbuck OTP, which, as you said, is mostly disabled in vWii mode except for bank 0.

Err... no, that would be the Espresso's OTP, not the Starbucks.

Starbuck OTP is the 1KiB one which is disabled in vWii mode except bank 0. Espresso OTP is used in both Wii U and vWii mode, but only runs at Boot ROM execution and is disabled afterwards.
