The PS3 has some games that work in the ps3 USA and in the EU, why Nintendo didn´t think about that... But they already did that with Nintendo 3DS Guide Louvre... The question is why didn´t this continue, there are some games in EU that USA wants, and in USA that EU wants, and for those who understand japanese the JP games, I really want the new Inazuma Eleven GO! Light and Shadow region-free in EU so I could import that... In my simple opinion it is easier make a game region-free than remove the region-lock( for Nintendo is a impossible task). You guys wants region-free games for 3DS?

iirc Nintendo made an option to make games region locked and not and devs choose to region lock it and now its a standard for 3DS games.

It's all about the game and how you play it. It's all about control and them making sure you can't take it.

this region lock makes me want nintendo to lose, but at the same time don't. I love their system, their franchise, but they are just so inflexible.

3DS Guide Louvre is NOT a game, it is a museum guide. That's why it is region free.

Sure everyone here agrees that region locking is bad, but this is a standard Nintendo practice.

Ok it is not a game but it is region free (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/...st-region-free-3ds-title.html#~oBjSbow3dBrmSg) (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/11/nintendo_3ds_guide_louvre_is_region_free) it only doesn't work in JP, but USA and EU works, if they can creat a software they can make a game region free, they say the problem is that some games can´t be in some countries, it is because THEY have some +18 games for 3DS these games you let region-locked and the games rated below that region free between US and UK it is almost the same language!! (Anyone knows where I can buy a 3DS XL from EUR because I want to play Inazuma Eleven GO! Light, this game will only reach US in 2017, JP(2011)/EU(2014) )

Get a 4.5 3DSXL and a GW/MT-card. Then you can play region-free in the form of roms.

Hum... You say the game will reach the US in 2017, but I dunno if it'll be released at all, it'll all depend on how the sales for the eshop version of Inazuma Eleven goes.

As for the region lock, as mentioned before, it's optional, so far the only game that's truly region free has been Pokemon X and Y, and technically, the US and the UK do have the same language, albeit American English does lack charm compared to British English.

Anyway, if you want to buy an European 3DS, check www.amazon.co.uk, pretty sure they can ship to your country, but the shipping cost will be absurd for latin american countries, and most online game stores in Europe don't ship outside Europe.
