I just removed my fresh-out-of-the-box n2DSLL and did the initial set up, without setting up an internet connection.
Will I be able to install CFW, then region change AND access the European or US eShop afterwards?

FYI, the console is brand new and has never connected online. Furthermore, it is the white/orange model and doesn't include a pre-installed game. Only the usual apps are on the home screen.

You can't access eshop after region change.

There actually is a way to access eshop after region change. But it requires a volunteer 3ds. If you go on discord and ask veeeery nicely, maybe, someone will actually help you. But again, eshop is pretty much useless now.

Only if he has a second New 3ds line.

Not even on a brand new console, region-changed straight out of the box, and never having connected online?
From what I know, 3ds craps itself when it checks title list and sees out of region titles. So there may be a chance, but again, looks like a lot of hassle over something you're not gonna be able to access anyway in several months.

But basically, since the eShop is gonna disappear anyway, it wouldn't hurt to change my system's region, right?
Or am I not gonna be able to download patches and updates and the like either?

Can't download anything if you can't access eshop, so no update.

You can get patches and updates off the archival sites, if you're looking for DLC/patches for specific games.
