PS1/2 Recommend Me PS2 Imports

I recently picked up a 60GB Backwards Compatible PS3 that now has the ability to play PS1 and PS2 Discs Region Free. Specifically, I'm looking to expand my current collection of PS2 Japanese Imports. I currently have both Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 Final Mix+. I'm wondering what you would recommend me pickup. I'm into 2D shooters, role playing games, and fighting games. But I'm also not limited to just those genres either. I look forward to reading your recommendations.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe there are many games for the ps2 that are foreign language exclusive (I can't even think of any). Pretty much all of the good ones have been translated over or have fan made translation patches

my list was towards @rs1n . two games that come to mind are tales of destiny 2 (the real one) and tales of rebirth. I own rebirth. the instruction manual is very thick, so I ended up breaking the tabs that hold it in the case. I kept the tabs, but they really try to cram it in there. lol it's been years since I played it. I think I'm at sunnytown, but I don't really remember. in tod 2, I'm at the third fight barbatos.

I believe so. I know there's a rock man/mega man fighting game as an unlockable. speaking of which, I found something that could be a mistake. in mega man 4 (the opening), it refers to mega man as rock, because says, "rock and roll." I guess it wouldn't work otherwise, but I'm thinking that it might confuse new comers.

Like I said, the standalone PS2 release has some unique features. But you probably wouldn't be interested unless you really liked the other versions.

Alone in the dark 4, Forbidden Siren 2 (PAL) and various Gundam games (Japan). You could also play Panzaer Dragoon, the PS2 port, that's Japan exclusive and I think some Phantasy Star ports as well.

Yes, I almost mentioned Forbidden Siren 2. The first one was released in NA, though.

Not sure why you'd want Alone in the Dark 4; the PC version is cheap on Steam and ought to run on any old PC nowadays, if you wanted to play it at all.

Japanese PS2 is a trove of retro games. Fantasy Zone Complete Collection has very cute shooters. You'd probably like the Darkstalkers collection and Garou Mark of the Wolves. Gunstar Heroes blends shooting with platforming. Best to bring a friend, the bosses can be grueling alone.

Outrun 2 SP aims to be more accurate to the arcade than the international Outrun 2006, but it's also much more expensive.
