Hacking Question on Nerf Armor

heya guys... i felt like buying a replacement housing but seeing that it is difficult to install and i live in a remote area hence repair is impossible, is it worth getting a nerf armor instead because my hinge is very loose and broken so will this tighten up the movement of the hinge plus i can get a good colour out of it
