So recently the guys at zreo (zelda reorchestrated) finished a huge project http://twilight-symphony.com i was thinking when the full tracks are released i wanted to take them and inject them into twilight princess wii what tools and knowledge would i need to accomplish this?

In theory, at least, it should probably be possible using Riivolution. The first thing to do would be determine the format of sound files in Twilight Princess. Easiest way to do that would be rip an ISO using CleanRip then use something like WiiScrubber to browse within the ISO and extract the sound files (probably in an obviously named directory, or obviously named files). Once you know the format, a bit of googling may well turn up a working converter for the format. It's an old game, so that sort of thing has probably been done already. Then it's just a case of converting the sound files you want and setting up Riivolution correctly (should be relatively trivial, look at Riivolution setups for other games where files are replaced for inspiration/guidance). Make sure of course to convert the files with the highest quality settings possible, or you'll lose the benefit.

This might help: http://smg2-5.wikidot.com/astconverterprogram

Doesn't seem to have a download link, but it's a starting point for further searching. I don't have time right now to look into it more I'm afraid.

EDIT: Apparently this can handle them: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vgmstream/

Usage seems to be like this:

Code:
test.exe input_file.ast -o output_file.wav

EDIT: Wait, that's the wrong direction, sorry. You probably need the first link for converting WAV > AST I guess.

Astconverter from smg 2.5 works great there's a lot of different media types ill post my findings here in case any one else wants to try this :)

If I remember correctly, Twilight Princess uses MIDI for the soundtrack so whether the music can be replaced with a fully orchestrated one is rather questionable.

I could be wrong though...

Twilight princess uses two different file types .ast and .aw .ast not sure but can be converted to mp3 and back .aw the problem one a type of .wav file do not know how to convert.

Found some info about the .aw files here.

look for "wwdumpsnd", a tool originally written to convert wind wakers .aw files to plain .wav files.
It might work on twilight princess' .aw files, too. However, I've not testet it.

Not much use for replacing them with alternative files though if you can't convert the other way, WAV > AW

Yup indeed so i know what songs are in .aw i just don't know how to get it out of .aw the field music that's what those files are

Huh guess my last post didn't make it through. First question no twilight princess uses two file types cut-scenes .ast not sure what kind of file this is but i do know it can be converted to any thing like mp3 and back. Field music .aw Don't know how to convert this but i do know it's some type of wav file.

Any way i am going to start updating the ast file list tomorrow :)

I know this is a really old thread... but im still interested... will be updating list soon

The only songs you could possibly replace are the ones that use .ast files. All the other ones are midis. The only way I could imagine this could possibly work is if you take an instrument sound and replace it with a whole song. Then change a .bms file to only play that instrument. I'm afraid rifling through the .aw sounds will do you no good.

Also Z2BgmWave_0.aw seems to be just a collection of sounds.

Yes but if you listen to the sounds of Z2BgmWave_0.aw they sound like pieces of an instrument for a midi keyboard or the pieces of the song ordon village

So I also had the same thought as you and while I have no clue how to deal with the sequenced music during actual gameplay, I thought I could try replacing the music from the main title sequence with the amazing music from Overture by Zelda Reorchestrated from Twilight Symphony. I rebuilt the ISO and it works pretty in Dolphin (except some glitching here and there, but that happens in the original too, I think my setup isn't fully optimized). I haven't put in the wolf howl at the end.

I'll upload it here:

Being a new member I can't post anything with link... so I gotta make 10 posts first.

If anybody wants the file, pm me
