Hacking Question about ds phat touchscreen

I replace some time ago a touch screen for my ds phat but it works badly i have to apply too much pressure on screen for it to respond, should i buy a new one from dealextreme?
Another question, is there a protective cover on the top of the original ds touch screen?, i feel a thin layer soft layer on my brother ds but the replacement touch screen doesnt include this layer.

Yep, You should buy another screen for your ds before the one you already have gets worse.

And that soft layer you feel is called an screen protector, You can buy them for pretty cheap.

Actually, it may be the digitizer. It's a thin layer that goes on top of the actual screen and is the part that actually detects the taps. Even if I'm wrong, they're only two dollars off dealextreme so you might as well pick one up.
That link also suggests that picking up one of those will help to fix it.
