*************(site "redd**" has the most expensive stuff listed, and some of that isn't very good and those controllers are not produced anymore)

Device Power Off, Plugged in and then Power ON:

Working:
MAYFLASH Universal Adapter For Xbox360/Ps3/Ps2/Ps Vita Tv/Pc Usb (has the ps2 port on one side, and usb port on other side, with 6 small light switches on bottom)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089OBLDO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@play Controller
https://www.gamestop.com/video-game...tation-3-black-wired-controller/10136266.html
(you need the MAYFLASH Universal Adapter, or the controller will not work, otherwise works perfectly)
.............
.............
("PDP" Rock Candy Controller May work, haven't tested) ("PDP" @play, may also work, haven't tested, same components as one that works ......... https://www.gamestop.com/video-game...on-3-new-black-wired-controller/11040157.html) ("PDP" or @play controllers solid buttons and reponse)
.............
.............
(working without mayflash adaptor)
Snakebyte Controller (plug and play) (buttons are hard to press, not a good brand)
walmart.com/ip/Snakebyte-Sunflex-Wired-PS3-Controller-Black/21063198

Not Working (not working by itself or with MAYFLASH UNIVERSAL ADAPTOR)
(may work with more expensive adaptor? who's willing to test that out?)

@play Controller with "ps2 connector and ps3 usb connector" (serial 064-019) DOES NOT WORK, with or without the mayflash adaptor

Dreamgear Shadow (solid buy for ps3/pc, very slight less sensitive than pdp/@play controllers, for the price)
https://www.amazon.com/DREAMGEAR-Dr...s=ps3+controller+shadow&qid=1591648597&sr=8-4

Power A mini PRO Elite (have to press down on buttons, not hard but firm, not good for some ppl)
https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Pro-Eli...ITE+mini+ps3+controller&qid=1591648698&sr=8-1

Power A Wired (joysticks squeaky in some areas) (serial number...1429765-01)
amazon.com/gp/product/B01LB4KGU2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(Generally wireless controllers don't work with the adaptors, or PSTV, do have a Power A wired standard for ps3 coming soon to test out, it may or may not work)

...............
...............

Best to buy a "PDP/@play" (same brand) from gamestop (ebay/amazon etc). (controller without the ps2 and ps3 ports, one with just ps3 port). Or. the more expensive stuff, isn't really sold that is listed elsewhere as "working", reports of the "MAYFLASH Universal Adaptor" i tested with these controllers working with a CLONED XBOX360 controller, but I'm not going to verify that, there are many brands of clone xbox360 controller!!!!!!!!!!

(the "power a mini pro elite" seems to work fine on ps3, but on a "raspberry pi 4" and perhaps a PC, buttons have to be presssed firm to respond................snakebyte had hard to press right shoulder button, and noisey sticks................I'd say the "dreamgear shadow", worked good in ps3, not as responsive as "PDP/@play", that is probably same as official ps3 controller, plus the one model that is listed working with MAYFLASH puts the ps3 into service mode if you need to do that for modding, sure other do to, but, not the one with the "ps2 and ps3 connectors")

(pstv with henkaku 3.60 firmware, sdcard 128 scandisk, firmware is probably not important)

Not a Buyer's Guide!

Power A mini PRO Elite, no issues on a ps3 (not using this on a ps3, you have hard button presses, not hard, but firm presses) (it requires two slots for the stick and power cord for controller, because batteries ship dead)

Power A Wired for ps3, seems fine, but the squeeky analog left/right stick, is from the material used or design. In game directional wise appears to work fine (analog stick is rigid in one area of rotation its not completely smooth), doesn't seem to affect gameplay, or ingame movement.

.............
.............

PDP@Play controllers would be my second choice behind the "power A mini pro elite" for ps3, but my first choice for anything non-ps3 for the cheap end of controllers, that works completely fine. reasons is the joystick are slightly less sensitive.

.............

Dreamgear Shadow for PS3 works great, these are less sensitive analog sticks then the ones listed above, about standard for third party controllers but everything seems fine with the controllers buttons and all.

.............

(snakebyte and cloned ps3 controllers are junk, not to mention some other brands i didn't even test, may not be very good at all...............or may not work well outside the PS3, like Power A brand. for driver issues.

One more controller test for the "@play" for a different model from gamestop or other provider, when I get around to it, to wrap things up, there's no expensive third brands tested in this list for the PSTV, for ps3 controllers. there's some stuff on google.

This is nice - Thanks :)
I haven't looked into it- but are there plug ins to make switch, wii remotes ,xbox controller, ect work for the vita tv?

(Tested "@play Brand" https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/playstation-3/accessories/controllers/products/playstation-3-black-wireless-controller/10165939.html?rt=productDetailsRedesign&utm_expid=.h77-PyHtRYaskNpc14UbmA.1&utm_referrer=https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/playstation-3/accessories/controllers ............. controller NO GOOD, it was just that one specific model that worked for @play brand so far, stated previously, this controller above also had a drift problem, some buttons move by themselves)

(original xbox controllers, I think there was old xbox port to usb port converters, from when that old asia website was still up years ago "ilksang or something" I'm sure that's spelled wrong)

Xbox360 Controller on pstv VITA Brand Test (Cheap Controllers still on sale/being made)

Using the "MAYFLASH Universal Adapter" (same as before)
.................
.................
Voyee Brand Xbox360 Controller (wired), works great no problems on pstv with mayflash universal adaptor
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WD4TSNQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1QSHC1AY9G6NX&psc=1
(does feel like a more expensive controller, no issues)

second test brand (you can find these on ebay, ebay sellers don't usually name the brands but compare pictures to amazon)

PAWHITS Brand Wired Controller
https://www.amazon.com/PAWHITS-Cont...ntroller&qid=1595432961&s=electronics&sr=1-55
Works but the quality is no good, joysticks are not fitted right against the controller case, and buttons seem like some false inputs are given

Best Brand Tested "Voyee Wired", cheap works like expensive controller

.................
.................

googled some results, it was reported that the "mayflash adaptor" worked on official and cloned xbox360 controllers for the "pstv/vita" ........... however, no details were provided. If you just buy a cloned xbox360 controller you may have hard button presses, or false inputs.

I only purchased two cheap 360 controllers, the success rate is much higher, because i purchased a lot more cloned ps2 brands that didn't work..................the price range in these test are for under $25 dollars, if you buy a cloned controller brand greater than $25 dollars it may work fine, but what is the point? the button layout that resembles a xbox360 controller on the pstv is one major point.

WIRED CONTROLLERS don't have the lag that the official wireless sony controllers have on the pstv/vita!!!!!!!!!
Even a Cloned Controller can perform like a pro with no lag! (work fine on other devices like the "raspberry pi")

EDIT

I did more testing with the "PAWHITS Brand, it doesn't have false inputs, the button presses are more rigid, not smooth, they are not hard to press buttons, its a good option if this is all you can find. but you can see, on the controller, how the joysticks move a lot further when press to right position, and don't move as much when pressed to left position, because of the joysticks contacting the case. it doesn't seem to effect input, but its an inconvience.

(as long as the controller doesn't have false inputs or hard button presses, then you won't have real issues)
(joysticks on the, voyee brand, seem slightly better, if (pawhits) this is all you can find you'll do fine, these controllers are still being manufactured)
