Hello all,
I come to you with hopes that at least someone knows what went wrong, and maybe has better advice for sticking CFW on a 3k. Allow me to explain.
My wife bought herself a Blue 3k about a month ago and intended to install Infinity 661 on it along with LME. She followed the instructions via MrMario2011's video on YouTube. Unfortunately for her, she got all the way to moving the data.mfc file to the flasher folder and then initialized Infinity Flasher on the console. At this reboot is where it bricked. Infinity was never installed, so it's instead a beautiful blue paperweight that sits on our desk.
The only thing she can think of is that she had the PSP tethered to the computer when she was transferring files, so she never cold booted and ran LME again before the flash. But the video said you didn't have to if you never turned it off.
We purchased a second 3k for another attempt, and since I've stuck mods on 2 Wiis, a WiiU and a 3DS, she has more confidence that I can do it without bricking. My problem is, I don't know what exactly went wrong. I REALLY don't want another bricked 3k.

I don't think I'll brick it, but not knowing where it went wrong makes me nervous. I'm fully aware a 3k is a permanent full brick.

Thanks in advance.

That's really sad to hear.
my advice would be to follow TechJames's YouTube videos since he's videos are well explained and simple to follow and should cover up ever problem about it.
I hacked my 3004 PSP by watching his guide

Can you show me which MrMario2011 video you watched which caused your brick please - Also the time in the video you got to.

Jelly Bean: Bricked at 7:40.

The good news is I installed Infinity and LME on her new one without an issue ...following the same video. My guess would be was that LME wasn't actually running when flashing Infinity, but I could be wrong. I ended up shutting down the "new" PSP completely and made sure that I launched LME and double checked system information before running the flasher ...crossing my fingers the whole time.

I'm going to end up getting another 3000 for myself and do it again. So far I'm impressed with its performance. We've never owned a PSP and our hacked 3DS just seems so meh compared to it.
