So over the last 2 months I have been creating an all in one PS4 with a 22" monitor. All this is housed in a hard shell briefcase style case.

The case has space for 2 control pads and has a keyboard an mouse preinstalled for use on Linux. I installed some USB powered speakers behind the top panel of the case.

The PS4 is powered off an ATX PSU and has a 2 TB HDD installed along with an extra 120mm PC fan for extra ventilation.

What do you all think?

Nifty! I don't know if you could squeeze enough battery power into there to run it from, but this is cool either way.
It runs off a single ATX power supply cable. I have mounted the connector on the side of the case.

I built a PS3 into a PC case a couple of years ago and added a laptop display on to the clear side panel. Enjoyed that so thought of a way I can 1-up myself and the PS4 hardcase was born.

It's not the lightest of things at just over 13kg but it works well and I have managed to get psxitarch booting on it too.

One day I might look at something similar for the PS5.....

I'd personally grab some MDF or other wood and build a box like housing around it so it won't move in the briefcase.
I love the mod, no one would say that's a portable PS4.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
