About there being less RAM in the Wii-U, if it is true that the machines from MS and Sony are going X86 based.... PPC code is pretty compact compared to X86-64.

So that might help things a bit.

If they can change the way the hardware performs in terms of the OS and such, I can see this working for quite a while. With sufficient RAM and quick data transfer rates between components, I can see larger worlds and better graphics with higher FPS going around :)
yes definitely but this is just too much. most people don't have such a pc for playing games and look at this. never bad as long as price stays low. I am thinking 350 to 450

True. Considering that the WiiU is 329€/379€, I'd imagine the next gen consoles would be around that price tag. :3

Uh?
These specs didn't reveal any RAM info, the Wii U has 2GB of RAM which is more than enough for a console. There was a RAM speed rumor that turned out false if that's what you're thinking about.
And about comparing the systems, we don't really know much about the Wii U besides some really basic info that can be flipped however you like and these specs don't tell us much either. Besides this is just a rumor, the little we know about the Wii U is confirmed at least.

Let's see how things turn out in terms of multiplats, I'm pretty positive about it in any case.
"640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Falsely quoted Bill Gates :D :teach:

You can NEVER have enough of anything. The more amount of ram, the more amount of data you can store in the memory. This is important if you are doing some heavy computation for advanced games with particulary many unique objects. Especially interesting in simulation networks.

2GB of ram is puny. DotA 2 on the PC uses 1 GB ram. Couple that with stuff in the operating system and you'll go beyond 2GB ram quite quickly. The only reason your computer is okay with 4GB of ram is because you are using you harddrive as virtual memory when you're out of ram.

The PS4 will not have 8 GB, if the rumor is true it stems from devkit info, they usually have more ram than the final product.
PS4 will more likely have 4GB. A PC need 1 gig to run dota2 on PC, but on a console that amount decreases dramatically where resources can focus 100% on the game and the game itself can be optimized for the system hardware. Since everyone will have the same setup optimizing on consoles is much more effortless and effective. The 4GB of ram will be good for multitasking but I doubt there will be actual games demanding that amount on the next generation consoles. PS3 only has 256MB RAM and 256MB for graphics memory. The Wii U RAM is 4x512MB with a total bandwidth of 52GB/s which is double the that of current consoles.

The Wii U may be lacking in other areas we don't know yet, but RAM isn't going to be it's weakness.

i'm tired of sony trying to copy nintendo. i've asked this several times last year...does anyone remember the MOVE?
cause when I do, it means nothing to me. sony just needs to be sony sheesh...microsoft is the real enemy. PS2 is a GOAT console. game lineup is incredible. just keep makin good games and you win sony.

-i'm only talking about the controller, nothing else-

We do, back from PlayStation 2 times, actually.

They are. PlayStation is one of the most recognizable gaming brands in the world, they're very much themselves.
microsoft is the real enemy.
What do you mean by that? The only competitor that pushes strong specs consoles? Nintendo actually "tried" with the WiiU, they're very much interested in competing for the core audience this time around.

Sony has very little influence over third-party - they may only entice them, for example with...

...for example with matching what the competition does so that porting is easy and topping it to make development a breeze. It's an arms race, always has been.
