judge not a console on what chips it has, or it's "speed"
But by the games available.
They've both been on the market for a couple of years and so look at each library and decide by
that.

No?

I have plenty of friends with different tastes in games than I do, we're still friends and I still play the stuff I really like and they play the stuff they like.
It's not about the consoles we play them on, or even the genres, games are there to have fun. If they give you enjoyment it's really all you need.
See what you like, and play that, don't base your opinion off of friends, reviewers or fanboyism. That's besides the point of gaming entirely.

360 and ps3 are graphically about the same
90% of the games are available on each machine

360 can be hacked to play burned games (but chances of getting banned from XBL is high)
PS3 doesnt have any hacks

360 XBOX Live (network) is really really nice but you pay for it (but you get what you pay for)
PS3 has free network play but I give XBL the win

PS3 does give you Blu-ray
360 plays DVD only - but you can download Hi Def content
ps3 also lets you download hidef content

Both allow you purchasing merchandise from their stores
360 you need to buy XBL points
PS3 lets you use a credit card

If your a kid (at heart) a 360 is a great one to start off with for the games and network play
If you want a cool addition to your home entertainment center - PS3 melts in nicely

Very simple.

Question: Will you be pirating games?

If answer is YES then Xbox 360.

If answer is NO then PS3.

Controllers are a big thing for myself...

I love the Playstation controller, have since the first. Just not comfortable with the 360 controller, stick in wrong place and the d-pad is shocking (I play a lot of fighting games).

I know what you mean about the d-pad on the 360, it's awful. I just could never get used of the analog stick on the ps3, while the 360 one suited me more.

Loading times are a factor as well. The 360 allows you to install ALL of your games to your HDD, with PS3 lacking such an option. Also, most of the games I've played on PS3 suffer from sluggish load times. It's the other side of the coin for the 360 though.

But the PS3 is also good for Blu-ray and for media purposes.

This summed it up for me at first, but i still found myself picking up a PS3 as well in the end.

Just look at which console suits you more, with respect to games, price, etc.

Bottom Line: Its a really close call, but the fact is that both consoles are good with providing you with hours of entertainment.

Its just better to pick which suits your needs more.
I mainly chose the ps3 because of the free online service and its a blu-ray player.
And i rather not have to pay for the wireless adapter and such for the 360

I have both, I play both, and I enjoy Both systems. I enjoy being able to connet and talk with people while playing games and using netflix online on my xbox. Also I love playing Fable 1 & 2. As for my ps3 I use it mainly for watching blu-ray movies. I also enjoy playing Little Big Planet.

On the what's faster question it is simple they both aren't fast enough to do games in 1080p.
Then it is what's better both have alike DirectX api for developing games are close but some people say that the 360 is smoother at certain points in games then the PS3. Maybe that is due to the PS3 having less memory and the game being a port of the 360 version as well.

What i have heard is that CPU wise there about the same , goes for the GPU too . Yes one might be faster but not in the domain that the comparison runs above 10% and certainly not outperforming each other in games like this (not the same games but games that are alike and made for each system (optimized).

Funny you should say that as a 360 bonus because you can connect, talk to people, and it now has Netflix online too. Hmm...

I have both, and personally prefer the PS3.

Saying that, they both have their upsides. While you do have to pay for Xbox live it is better that the PSN- so you do get what you pay for.

360 is backwards compatible, newer PS3s won't play PS2 games (although fingers crossed for an update).

Graphically the PS3 is marginally better, but not overly so.

PS3 wins hands down as a media centre.

The main reason to choose one over the other is the games available, so it boils down to personal preference.

Marginally better? On what? Exclusives? Subjective. Multiplatforms? lolno. Its about the same.
Why is the PS3 'hands down' a better media center? Elaborate further, please.

TBH, the PS3's version of Netflix for now sucks. Plain and simple, you have to insert the disc every time you want to watch a movie *gasp, something PS3 fanboys often mock Xbox 360 owners for having to switch discs on some games like LO and the up coming Final Fantasy* and it has a slow interface. No comparison at the moment, in the future it might change.

And you can't really 'talk' to people if they are doing different things than you are..

PS3 has much more file type support than 360, And exclusive wise, 360 has jack shit, Halo 3 / ODST and Fable II, that's about the only decent exclusives they have.

Subjective. I'm looking for FACTS not Fanboy opinions.

And, kindly, list what file types the PS3 supports that the 360 DOESN'T.
